The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs meet Saturday in college football action from Sanford Stadium. Here’s a Georgia vs Alabama prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Georgia vs Alabama pick.

Alabama Crimson Tide Betting Preview

The Crimson Tide have three games in the bag so far this year. First came the season opener versus Florida State. Alabama was outscored 17-7 in the first half of that matchup, eventually limping to a 31-17 loss while allowing points in every quarter. The Tide gave up 382 total yards in that defeat, including 230 on the ground. As for game two, Alabama was able to take out their frustrations (and even up their record) with a meeting against an overmatched Louisiana-Monroe squad. The Crimson Tide scored 21 points in three different quarters on the way to a 73-0 blowout win. Alabama managed 583 yards this time, with 212 of those coming from the ground game. LA-Monroe posted only 148 yards total on the other side.

In their latest matchup versus Wisconsin back on September 13, the Crimson Tide kept it going. Alabama scored 14 points in both the second and third quarters during a 38-14 victory in the end. QB Ty Simpson logged 382 yards and four scores on 24-of-29 passing while also leading the rush with six carries for 25 yards. Ryan Williams was the top receiver in the win with five grabs for 165 yards and a pair of scores.

Georgia Bulldogs Betting Preview

Over on the Georgia side, they had a couple of fairly routine matchups to start the season. The Bulldogs took on Marshall in their opener on August 30, posting double-digit points in each of the first three quarters during a 45-7 victory. Georgia held the Herd to just 207 total yards in that one, with 129 of those coming through the air. The Bulldogs managed 239 rush yards alone during the win. As for game two, the Bulldogs would meet up with Austin Peay. Georgia managed a more modest win this time, notching a touchdown in each quarter during a 28-6 result. The Bulldogs defense held the Governors to only 196 total yards (151 passing) but the offense lost a couple of fumbles along the way.

Georgia faced their toughest test of the season so far in their last outing versus Tennessee back on September 13. The Bulldogs were down 21-7 by the end of the first quarter but eventually prevailed in overtime during a 44-41 thriller. QB Gunner Stockton posted a 23-of-31 line for 304 yards and a pair of scores in the victory, and also scored a rush TD. Nate Frazier was the leading player among the ground game with 14 totes for 73 yards, and Colbie Young led the receivers on four catches for 73 yards in the victory.

Georgia vs Alabama Prediction

I’m going to lean toward Georgia, but you could probably make a case either way. This will be one of the more interesting games of this weekend’s college football slate. That said, Georgia is coming off an intense road win over a great Tennessee team, posting 502 yards of offense (304 passing), 5.8 yards per play and 28 first downs alongside a couple of turnovers. Defensively the Bulldogs gave up 496 yards (371 passing) and 7.1 yards per play but also came up with two interceptions. Tennessee’s 10 penalties didn’t hurt matters either.

As for Alabama, they logged 454 total yards (72 rushing) and 8.7 yards per play in their latest win over Wisconsin. The Tide weren’t great on third downs (2-of-8) but the defense held the Badgers in check on the other side with just 209 total yards allowed. Alabama is going to need to rely on that kind of stout defense here. I’m not sure they’ll quite get into cover territory.
