The Ole Miss Rebels and the Georgia Bulldogs meet Thursday in College Football Playoff Quarterfinal action from the Allstate Sugar Bowl at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Here’s a Georgia vs Ole Miss prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Georgia vs Ole Miss pick.
Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview
Ole Miss opened on a 5-0 run with wins over Georgia State, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tulane, LSU and Washington State. After losing to Georgia, the Rebels would then beat Oklahoma, south Carolina, the Citadel, Florida and Mississippi State for an 11-1 overall record in the regular season. Ole Miss took out Tulane in the CFP First Round Game to keep it going.
In the matchup with the Green Wave back on December 20, the Rebels scored points in every quarter—including double-digits in three of them—on the way to a 41-10 blowout victory. QB Trinidad Chambliss put up 282 yards with one TD on 23-of-29 passing and also rushed for two scores. Kewan Lacy had 15 carries for 87 yards and a score, while Deuce Alexander had seven catches for 87 yards.
Georgia Bulldogs Betting Preview
Over on the Georgia side, they beat Marshall, Austin Peay and Tennessee before taking their lone loss of the year versus Alabama. The Bulldogs have since taken out Kentucky, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida, Mississippi State, Texas, Charlotte, Georgia Tech and Alabama in succession. That gives Georgia a nice 12-1 overall record through 13 games.
In the SEC Championship game versus Alabama on December 6, the Bulldogs put up a touchdown in each quarter for a 28-7 victory in the end. QB Gunner Stockton had a 20-of-26 line for 156 yards and three scores while Nate Frazier had 52 yards and a TD on 13 carries. Leading the charge in receiving was Zachariah Branch with 53 yards and a touchdown on five catches.
Georgia vs Ole Miss Prediction
I’ll stick with Ole Miss here, but you could call it either way. We should have a great matchup on our hands. The Rebels didn’t have any issues at all with a very good Tulane team in their last outing. Ole Miss racked up 497 yards in that one with 7.3 yards per play, 30 first downs and just one team penalty. The Rebels could have been better on third downs (3-of-10), though. On defense Ole Miss gave up 421 yards but also had three takeaways and a 5-of-13 success rate on third downs.
The last time these teams met up back on October 18, Georgia powered out a 43-35 victory with a 17-0 fourth quarter. The Bulldogs ended up with 510 total yards, 221 rush yards, 34 first downs and zero turnovers. The Rebels had 351 yards with 263 pass yards and 21 first downs on the other side. This rematch could shake out in a lot of different ways but in all likelihood it’ll be another competitive affair. I like Ole Miss to get in there, but it’s a coin flip.
