How Does Iowa Bounce Back?
We are only a couple of weeks in but it appears like the same old Iowa football. The hope was with a new quarterback, Iowa might be different, but it doesn’t appear like that is going to be the case. In the first game of the season, Iowa was able to knock off Albany 34-7. In the last game against Iowa State, though, the offense only managed 13 points which led to the defeat.
Iowa scored 10 points in the second quarter, but that was the only quarter the offense got anything going. Iowa managed only 214 total yards, and only 83 of those came through the air. They averaged only 3.4 yards per play. Mark Gronowski was under center and he completed 13 of his 24 passes for 83 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. They need him to be a whole lot better if Iowa wants to find success like they hoped heading into the season. If he struggles, this is going to be a long game.
Awful Start for UMass
It has been an awful start to the season for UMass and they have lost each of the first two games. In game one against Temple, they lost 42-10 and in the last game against Bryant they ended up losing 27-26. Against Bryant, UMass only scored six points in the second half, and that led to the defeat. UMass had 358 total yards and 257 passing yards.
Umass had three different players who threw at least four passes. Grant Jordan got the majority of the snaps and he completed 13 of his 22 passes for 205 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. The top running back was Brandon Hood and he finished with 11 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. Grant Jordan also finished with nine carries for 28 yards and a touchdown. They are facing a good defensive team, and they are going to need to make the most of their possessions here.
UMass vs Iowa Prediction
There is just some sort of course with Iowa football. Josh Allen could probably come to Iowa and they would make him look like a terrible company. Gronowski threw for only 83 yards in his last game, and even against a bad defense, he is going to really struggle to get the offense going here. The Iowa defense howeve,r is going to be good again, and UMass is going to really struggle to get the offense going. Neither team is reaching 17 points here, and this game is going to end up staying under the total. Back the under to cash.
