The Red Wolves had an unenviable road matchup versus Memphis in their opener this year. That one didn’t turn out great, as Arkansas State ended up with a 42-24 loss. Game two versus West Georgia was the Red Wolves’ first win as they took it easily 52-7. In game three however, Arkansas State fell back into the loss column with a blowout 31-7 road effort versus TCU.
Last weekend versus Kennesaw State, the Red Wolves had a battle on their hands. Arkansas State was all tied up 14-14 going into the final quarter, then tacked on a field goal to power out the victory in Jonesboro 17-14. QB Trey Owens was 24-of-31 for 244 yards and a TD while also scoring on the ground. Jaylen Bonelli added six catches for 78 yards in the victory effort.
Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Betting Preview
Over on the Cajuns’ side, they stormed out of the gate with a nice home win over Lamar, taking that one 38-7. Louisiana didn’t play terribly against a very good USC team in a 49-30 loss for game two. In game three the Cajuns were able to notch another win, scoring all their points in the first half along the way to a 21-14 victory over a visiting UAB squad.
Matched up against Charlotte, the Cajuns held a modest 10-7 lead at the break. Louisiana ended up scoring in every quarter though, riding a 24-0 second-half run to a 34-7 victory on the road in the end. QB Lunch Winfield had a 19-of-26 line for 149 yards and a touchdown while also scoring on the ground. Trenton Chaney added three catches for 44 yards.

I might take a stab on Arkansas State but it’s a coin flip. The Red Wolves eked past Kennesaw State last weekend on 363 yards, 5.9 yards per play and 22 first downs with zero turnovers. Arkansas State went just 5-of-12 on third downs and the defense gave up 7-of-13 on the other side. The D gets a pass here, though; you can’t really complain about a 14-point total from the Owls.
As for Louisiana, they beat up on a struggling Charlotte team but the numbers on offense aren’t exactly mind-blowing. The Cajuns posted 292 yards with 3.7 yards per play and 4-of-14 on third downs. The defense did the heavy lifting on just 137 yards allowed and four takeaways. If the Red Wolves can get their offense moving early I think they’ll be okay here.
