The Michigan Wolverines and the Maryland Terrapins meet Saturday in college football action from Byrd Stadium. Here’s a Maryland vs Michigan prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Maryland vs Michigan pick.
Michigan Wolverines Betting Preview
The Wolverines took care of New Mexico in their opener without too much difficulty but then fell to Oklahoma in the next game. Michigan would recover with wins over Central Michigan, Nebraska and Wisconsin before a loss to USC and three more wins over Washington, Michigan State and Purdue. In the matchup with the Boilermakers on November 1, the Wolverines were up 14-7 by the end of the first half and held on for the win. Michigan gained 398 total yards with 253 rush yards, 6.5 yards per play and 20 first downs but did have a couple turnovers.
In their game versus Northwestern last weekend, the Wolverines had a close road escape. Michigan was up 21-9 going into the final quarter then got outscored 13-3 the rest of the way in a 24-22 win. QB Bryce Underwood was 21-of-32 for 280 yards and a pair of picks but also scored a rush TD. Jordan Marshall paced the run with 19 carries for 142 yards and two scores, while Andrew Marsh topped the team in receiving with 12 catches for 189 yards.
Maryland Terrapins Betting Preview
Over on the Maryland side, they got started with four wins over FAU, Northern Illinois, Towson and Wisconsin before falling to Washington. The Terrapins hit the skids with more losses to Nebraska, UCLA, Indiana and Rutgers after that. In the 35-20 loss to the Knights on November 8, Maryland gave up 21 points in the second quarter alone. The offense generated 403 total yards, but only 98 of those came through the air. Maryland added 14 first downs and a rough 4-of-12 on third-down tries in the defeat while the defense gave up 256 rushing yards.
On Saturday versus Illinois, Maryland was down 14-6 by the end of the first half. The Terrapins gave up 10 unanswered points from there (and allowed scoring in every quarter) during a 24-6 loss on the road. QB Malik Washington had a 25-of-46 line for 238 yards and a pick while DeJuan Williams rushed nine times for 43 yards. Shaleak Knotts was the team’s leading receiver in the losing effort with four catches for 62 yards total.

Maryland vs Michigan Prediction
I’ll just stay with Michigan. That said, after last weekend I’m not super high on them. The Wolverines posted a nice 496 yards with 216 rush yards, 6.4 yards per play, 25 first downs and a 9-of-14 success rate on third downs during their win over Northwestern on Saturday. The defense was great as well with 245 yards, 11 first downs and 2-of-12 on third-down tries allowed. The glaring stat, however, was the five turnovers (three lost fumbles). It nearly ruined the game for the Wolverines. Relatively speaking, Michigan has been a bit tepid when it comes to scoring lately. They’ve been at 24 or fewer points in three of the last four outings—all victories, granted—but all three of those came versus unranked teams. The Wolverines need a blowout showing on the road Saturday.
As for Maryland, they couldn’t get much going against a pretty solid Illinois defense in their last matchup, notching just 293 total yards, 18 first downs and 3-of-12 on third downs. The Terrapins haven’t been north of 20 points in four straight games themselves, losing all four of those. Maryland has given up 24 or more points in each of their last three games as well, so Michigan should have plenty of scoring opportunities in this weekend’s matchup.
