Chattanooga Mocs Team Preview
The Chattanooga Mocs will try to take a step forward in 2025 after finishing 7-5 in 2024, missing out on the FCS playoffs. There’s going to be a lot of position battles for Chattanooga, as the offense lost it’s starting QB, RB, top 4 receivers and three of their top five offensive linemen in terms of snaps played. Luke Schomberg’s seen the most action in Chattanooga’s QB room while Camden Orth is the fresh face transferring in from Bowling Green. On defense, the Mocs only bring back two of their top 13 tacklers. Luckily, the Mocs have one of the better returning FCS corners in Jeremiah Batiste, who had three interceptions last season and the transfer portal will have to pay off big if Chattanooga were to make some noise in the SoCon this season.

Memphis Tigers Team Preview
The Memphis Tigers will be out to replicate 2024’s success and maybe even build on it after finishing 11-2 in 2024, including 6-2 in AAC conference play. The Tigers would be invited to the Frisco Bowl, and would take down West Virginia in OT 42-37. The Tigers will have to find a new QB, whether it’s Nevada transfer Brendon Lewis or true freshman AJ Hill, there will be options. The Tigers lost top running back Mario Anderson and backup Brandon Thomas, but Greg Desrosiers averaged 7 yards per carry last season and will also have his shots. The receiving room is pretty much starting over, but there’s experience with Jadon Thompson and CH Smith transferring in. On defense, there’s a lot of turnover as well with a lot of incoming talent via the transfer portal. William Whitlow is back on the defensive end, and the linebacking corps might be Memphis’ strength after bringing in names like Drue Watts from Nevada and Everett Roussaw Jr. from UAB.

Chattanooga Mocs vs. Memphis Tigers Prediction
I’m on Memphis here. It’s a big number to lay with the Tigers, but even last year’s Mocs team I would’ve thought would’ve been overmatched in this game and I think we honestly see more of the same in this game. The Tigers have some overhaul as well, but this to me feels more like it’s going to be a scrimmage type of game for Memphis as opposed to having Chattanooga battle in this one. I’m backing the Tigers in a beatdown here.
