In that game the Knights bagged a four-point victory. As for Memphis, they’re coming off an open week. The Tigers last appeared in a loss to Tulane. UCF beat SC State in their first game this year, but then fell to Louisville in their second outing. The Knights hit a win streak with wins over Florida Atlantic, Georgia Tech, SMU and Temple but then lost to East Carolina 34-13 on October 22.
In the Cincinnati game last weekend, the Knights entered the fourth quarter trailing 13-12. UCF scored 13 points in that final frame for a 25-21 win. QB Mikey Keene finished with 176 yards, and RJ Harvey led the rush with 18 carries for 84 yards and two scores.
Over on the Memphis side, they lost to Mississippi State in their opener but then beat Navy, Arkansas State, North Texas and Temple in succession. The Tigers would hit a losing streak after that however, falling to Houston, East Carolina and Tulane.
Back on October 22 versus Tulane, the Tigers were down 35-0 by halftime. Memphis made a game of it with a 28-3 second half but still lost 38-28. QB Seth Henigan put up 312 yards with three scores and two picks. Eddie Lewis caught three balls for 94 yards and two scores.
PICK: I’m probably staying with UCF, but it’s close. So long as the Knights don’t have a hangover from their huge win over the weekend they should be okay here. UCF posted 505 total yards (258 rushing) in that victory versus Cincinnati, along with 30 first downs and just one penalty. It was a great all-around effort against a tough team.
As for Memphis, they were drilled by a good Tulane team in their last outing despite the cosmetic second half. The Tigers posted four turnovers and a cold 5-of-14 rate on third-down tries. The good news is that Memphis has scored pretty well overall this year, though. They should be able to keep the cover pace here and make things interesting.
