The Toledo Rockets and the Miami-Ohio RedHawks meet Wednesday in college football action from Yager Stadium. Here’s a Miami-OH vs Toledo prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Miami-OH vs Toledo pick.

Toledo Rockets Betting Preview

The Rockets opened up their campaign with a 2-2 run, losing to Kentucky and Western Michigan alongside wins over Western Kentucky and Morgan State. Toledo would go 2-2 over the next four as well, with wins over Akron and Kent State mixed with losses to Bowling Green and Washington State. In the loss to the Cougars on October 25, Toledo gave up 21 points in the second quarter on the way to a 28-7 finish. The Rockets gained a tepid 299 yards on offense in that one with 4.5 yards per play and just 15 first downs alongside eight flags.

In their latest outing on November 5 versus Northern Illinois, the Rockets were able to get back into the win column. Toledo scored points in every quarter—including 21 in the second—on the way to a 42-3 blowout win at home. Tucker Gleason threw for 25-of-31, 309 yards and two scores while leading rusher Chip Trayanum carried 11 times for 36 yards and a score of his own. Tops in receiving was Junior Vandeross with six grabs for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Miami-OH RedHawks Betting Preview

Over on the RedHawks’ side, they opened up the season with three straight losses. Those defeats came courtesy of Wisconsin, Rutgers and UNLV in succession. Miami-OH found their stride after that however, taking out Lindenwood, Northern Illinois, Akron, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan from there. In the win over the Broncos, the RedHawks scored 17 points in the final quarter to cap off a comeback 26-17 result. Miami-OH ended up with 408 total yards and 19 first downs in that one but went just 4-of-12 on third-down tries.

Back on November 4 versus Ohio, the RedHawks fell back into the loss column. Miami-OH scored in each of the final three quarters (but also gave up points in each of those quarters as well) during a 24-20 defeat. QB Dequan Finn logged a 17-of-25 line for 194 yards, two scores and a pick while Jordan Brunson led the rush on 49 yards off 15 totes. Cole Weaver added 94 yards on six catches to top the receivers, while both Kamryn Perry (45 yards) and Braylon Isom (31 yards) each had a receiving touchdown.

Miami-OH vs Toledo Prediction

I’ll lean toward Miami-OH, but you could probably make a case either way. This will be a fun matchup if both teams play to their capabilities. In any case, the RedHawks have had to get over al tough loss to Ohio this week and should come into this one focused. In the loss to the Bobcats, Miami-OH managed just 16 first downs and went 4-of-13 on third-down tries while gaining 303 total yards (194 passing). On defense the RedHawks gave up 338 yards with 19 first downs and 6-of-12 on third downs. Miami-OH has scored 20 points exactly in two of the last four games, which is a bit low for them in comparable matchups this year.

As for Toledo, they didn’t have much trouble with Northern Illinois in their last outing—unless you count the 10 penalties for 92 yards in a somewhat sloppy game. Still, the Rockets finished with 443 yards (309 passing), 7.1 yards per play, 23 first downs, 9-of-14 on third-down tries and no turnovers. The defense was great too on 203 yards, 13 first downs and 2-of-16 on third downs allowed. This one’s going to come down to ball control, and I think the RedHawks can eke one out. It’ll be a good game to watch.
