The UNLV Rebels and the Miami-Ohio RedHawks meet Saturday in college football action from Yager Stadium. Here’s a Miami-OH vs UNLV prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Miami-OH vs UNLV pick.
UNLV Rebels Betting Preview
UNLV got an early start this year, opening their season with an August 23 matchup against Idaho State. The Rebels were down 10-0 early in that one but bounced back with double-digit points in the final three quarters on the way to a 38-31 victory. QB Anthony Colandrea was 15-of-21 for 195 yards and one touchdown, but Jai’Den Thomas did most of the offensive work on 10 carries, 147 yards and three scores. Tops among receivers (by a significant margin) was Jaden Bradley with six grabs for 131 yards total.
In game two versus Sam Houston, UNLV notched another win—though this one wasn’t quite as close. The Rebels posted 24 points in the first half and scored in every quarter in a 38-21 outcome. Colandrea was 19-of-23 this time with 249 yards, two scores and an interception. Thomas again led the rush with 65 yards and a score, while Bradley caught six more balls for 125 yards and a touchdown.
In their latest matchup versus UCLA back on September 6, the Rebels were up 23-3 at halftime. UNLV had to scramble on a 20-7 deficit from there but held on for the win 30-23. Colandrea put up 203 yards and three scores in the win. Thomas had 13 carries for 61 yards, and Var’Keyes Gumms caught three balls for 40 yards and a TD.
Miami-OH RedHawks Betting Preview
Over on the Miami-OH side, they’ve only got two games in the can so far this year—both being losses against tricky teams. First was a matchup versus Wisconsin, as Miami-OH turned a 3-0 halftime deficit into a 17-0 loss in the end. QB Dequan Finn was 9-of-18 for 83 yards and a pair of interceptions. Kenny Tracy carried six times for 15 yards, and Cole Weaver had three catches for 35 yards total. Finn also rushed 12 times for just 13 yards, averaging 1.1 YPC.
In game two versus Rutgers, Miami-OH was more competitive but the outcome was still the same. The RedHawks gave up 17 points in the second quarter and 14 more in the fourth during a 45-17 loss. Finn was 14-of-22 for 251 yards and a pick this time and also led the rush with 11 carries for 85 yards and a score. Keith Reynolds hauled in seven passes for 120 yards, and Kamryn Perry wasn’t too far behind with 108 yards on four catches.

Miami-OH vs UNLV Prediction
I’ll probably just stay with UNLV. The Rebels faltered in the second half of their latest appearance versus UCLA, but to their credit UNLV pulled out the gutsy win. It was a sloppy outing with the Rebels accounting for 13 of the game’s 27 total penalties, but the defense held strong in the end. UNLV gave up just 3-of-13 on third-down tries and had a couple of takeaways that helped tilt the game in their favor. The offense was pretty well-rounded overall despite going cold for a while, notching 351 total yards (203 passing) and 6.6 yards per play.
As for Miami-OH, they’ve had a couple of tough matchups so far this year and haven’t been able to really show their stuff. The RedHawks got eaten up by the Rutgers offense in their last game, surrendering 421 total yards, 31 first downs and a whopping 39:06 in time of possession. The offense wasn’t bad; they just never had the ball. In any case, this weekend’s matchup shouldn’t be as lopsided. That said, I still like the Rebels to power one out.
