Why Maryland will cover

  • Maryland has won three of its last four games as an underdog.

  • The underdog has covered the spread in five of Maryland’s last six games.
  • Minnesota has failed to cover the spread in six of its last eight home games against conference opponents.

Total Points Facts

  • Each of Maryland’s last six games against conference opponents has gone OVER the total points line.
  • Seven of Minnesota’s last eight October games as a home favorite against non-AP-ranked teams have gone UNDER the total points line.

Matchup/League Facts

  • Minnesota ranks 1st among FBS teams for 4th down conversion percentage this season (100.0).
  • Minnesota ranks T2nd among FBS teams for interceptions this season (13).
  • Maryland ranks 9th among FBS teams for passing yards per game this season (313.3).
  • Maryland ranks T13th among FBS teams for 4th down conversion percentage against this season (33.3).

Minnesota vs Maryland Prediction

Both of these teams come into this matchup after winning their last game, but Minnesota will have the home-field advantage in this game. The Golden Gophers were fortunate to get by UCLA in their last game, but they did have the bye last week to try and fix some things. Maryland played their worst game of the season against Northwestern two weeks ago, but they rallied for a huge win against USC last time out. I don’t love either of these teams, but I think Maryland has a real chance to win, so give me the points with the Terrapins.
