Missouri vs Texas Prediction

I’ll stay with Missouri. The Tigers got past a middling Arkansas squad pretty easily over the weekend, bagging 390 yards and 22 first downs along the way. On D Missouri surrendered 288 yards and 8-of-17 on third-down tries while coming up with four takeaways (three fumbles). The Tigers did commit nine penalties for 80 yards though, so it wasn’t the cleanest game in the world. Missouri is scoring at a great clip these days; they’ve got 24 or more points in all but one game this year (a 31-3 loss to Ole Miss on October 17 being the outlier).

As for Texas, they didn’t have too much trouble against an overmatched Mississippi State team last weekend. The Longhorns put up just 13 first downs, 60 rushing yards and a shaky 6-of-14 on third-down tries, though. Defensively is where Texas got it done, surrendering just 12 first downs, 187 total yards and 6-of-18 on third downs. The Longhorns now have consecutive wins after consecutive losses but they’re in for another challenging game here (with a road matchup versus LSU lurking on November 14 as well).

Game Info, Stats and Previews

The Texas Longhorns and the Missouri Tigers meet Saturday in college football action from Faurot Field in Columbia. Here’s a collection of relevant information and reasoning for a sound Missouri vs Texas prediction. We have looked at this information from a betting perspective and attempted to determine the best Missouri vs Texas pick.

Texas Longhorns Betting Preview

The Longhorns have a couple of major blemishes on the record so far this year but otherwise they’ve done okay. Texas opened up the season with a four-game win streak, taking out Texas State, Ohio State, UTSA and Tennessee in that stretch. The Longhorns would falter over the next two games, taking a pair of 27-24 losses to both Oklahoma and Florida. Texas was able to rally in their next game and beat Ole Miss, giving the team a 5-2 record over the first seven outings of the year.

Last weekend versus Mississippi State, Texas managed to get into the end zone during the first quarter and once again in the second on the way to a 17-0 halftime edge. The Longhorns scored touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters as well, resulting in a 31-3 victory in the end. QB Arch Manning was 16-of-20 for 220 yards and three scores. Emmett Mosley had four catches for 98 yards and a TD while Raleek Brown rushed eight times for 30 yards.

Missouri Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Missouri side, they similarly have a couple of notable losses on their card this year but also some big wins. The Tigers beat AR-Pine Bluff, Kansas and Troy in their first three outings before a seven-point loss to Mississippi State. Missouri would then beat Florida and Texas A&M before another loss to Ole Miss. In their first seven outings Missouri managed a 5-2 record as well.

Matched up against Arkansas on Halloween, Missouri managed to get into the end zone in the first quarter then added a field goal on the way to a 13-7 halftime edge. The Tigers got it rolling in the third quarter with two more touchdowns and eventually finished off a 34-10 victory as time wound down. QB Austin Simmons was 20-of-31 for 179 yards and two scores. Jamal Roberts carried 23 times for 138 yards and a TD while Cayden Lee caught six balls for 78 yards.
