The Navy Midshipmen and SMU Mustangs do battle in a American Conference week 6 college football tilt from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday.

The SMU Mustangs will look to add to their 41-17 win over USF from their last game. Tanner Mordecai’s thrown for 1,569 yards, 24 touchdowns and 8 interceptions while the tandem of Ulysses Bentley IV and Tre Siggers have 746 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Danny Gray leads SMU with 27 catches for 432 yards while Rashee Rice, Reggie Roberson Jr. and Grant Calcaterra each have 200+ receiving yards this season. On defense, Delano Robinson leads the Mustangs with 27 total tackles while Gary Wiley has a team-high 3 sacks and Turner Coxe has a pair of sacks as well this season.

The Navy Midshipmen will attempt to build off of a 34-30 win over UCF last time out. Xavier Arline’s thrown for 109 yards while Isaac Ruoss has a team-high 211 rushing yards. James Harris II, Xavier Arline and Carlinos Acle eaeh have 100+ rushing yards this season. Mychal Cooper has a team-high 6 catches for 128 yards while Diego Fagot has a team-high 39 total tackles on defense.

SMU is 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games as a road favorite. Navy is 15-5 ATS in their last 20 conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games on turf while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win.

I get the Mustangs being favored, as SMU threw all over the USF Bulls in their win. However, Navy hung a nice amount on UCF and the option offense has a tendency to chew up clock and make it harder to cover these big numbers. Sure, SMU could pull it off, but I think the safer play is the over in this one as I see two offenses that can combine for 60+ points easily.
