In this article we will formulate a NC State vs Virginia prediction for this College Football game on Saturday, September 6th at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week 2 matchup.

NC State Wolfpack Betting Preview

The NC State Wolfpack are 1-0 this year after they defeated East Carolina by a score of 24-17 in their first game. NC State led 3-0 after the first quarter and they extended that lead to 17-7 at the half. The Wolfpack led 24-7 heading into the fourth quarter, but they allowed 10 points in the final quarter and needed a crucial late stop to seal the win. NC State out gained ECU by a total of 423-413, went 7-15 on third down, and lost the turnover battle by a total of 1-0. CJ Bailey went 24-34 for 318 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, while also rushing for 21 yards and a score. Hollywood Smothers rushed 22 times for 76 yards and one touchdown, while Wesley Grimes caught four passes for 121 yards and one score in the win. The NC State defense was led by Caden Fordham, who recorded 11 total tackles, while the team had one sack and nine tackles for loss.

NC State played very well for the first three quarters last week against East Carolina, but they failed to score in the fourth and nearly blew a 17 point lead. The Wolfpack shut down the ECU rushing attack, but they allowed nearly 400 passing yards in the game, which is worrisome against this Virginia aerial attack.

Virginia Cavaliers Betting Preview

The Virginia Cavaliers are 1-0 this season after they defeated Coastal Carolina by a score of 48-7 last week. Virginia led 7-0 in the first quarter and they tacked on more points to lead 28-0 at halftime. The Cavaliers did have their lead cut to 35-7 in the third quarter, but they scored the last 13 points to seal the blowout victory. Virginia out gained Coastal Carolina by a total of 467-261, went 9-18 on third downs, and won the turnover battle by a total of 2-0. Chandler Morris went 19-27 for 264 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 50 yards in the game. Noah Vaughn carried the ball 10 times for 45 yards, while Cam Ross caught seven passes for 124 yards and one score. The UVA defense was led by Landon Danley, who had seven total tackles, while the team had one sack and four tackles for loss.

Virginia absolutely crushed Coastal Carolina in their week one win and they should have plenty of confidence coming into this game. The Cavaliers were very strong defensively and Morris looked comfortable in his first start for the squad, accounting for 314 total yards.

NC State vs Virginia Prediction

Both of these teams picked up wins to start the season last week, but NC State was shaky in the fourth and barely escape with the victory. Virginia poured it on Coastal Carolina and I really like Chandler Morris at quarterback, who can sling it all around the field. Both of these quarterbacks can make plays and this should be a great game, but I am siding with Virginia. I think the Cavaliers have the advantage at quarterback and I don’t like how NC State played with a lead last week. Take Virginia on the road here.
