The South Florida Bulls and the North Texas Mean Green meet Friday in college football action from Apogee Stadium. Here’s a North Texas vs South Florida prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best North Texas vs South Florida pick.
South Florida Bulls Betting Preview
The Bulls have done pretty well through five games this year so far, notching just one blemish in that time. South Florida opened up with a nice 34-7 win over Boise State, then shocked Florida in a tense 18-16 road victory for game two. The Bulls recorded their only loss against a very good Miami team 49-12 on September 13, but then bounced back against South Carolina State with a 63-14 blowout win during their next outing. In that one the Bulls posted 35 points in the third quarter alone alongside 252 rush yards and 9.3 yards per play.
Last Friday in their most recent outing against Charlotte, South Florida was able to keep it going. The Bulls jumped out to a 23-0 lead after one half and scored 21 more points in the final quarter during a 54-26 victory. QB Byrum Brown was 19-of-34 for 211 yards, four scores and two picks while also leading the rush with 17 carries for 162 yards and another score. Nykahi Davenport posted 15 totes for 79 yards and a TD, while Jeremiah Koger had four catches for 75 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
North Texas Mean Green Betting Preview
Over on the North Texas side, they’ve been able to tear through their first five games without a blemish—however there have been a couple of close calls along the way. The Mean Green blew out Lamar 51-0 in their opener this year, then eked one out on the road versus Western Michigan 33-30 in game two. The Mean Green would then dispatch Washington State 59-10 ahead of a 45-38 road escape against Army. In that win over the Black Knights, the Green gave up 488 yards of offense—including 387 on the ground—and 8-of-16 on third-down tries but also forced three turnovers (two fumbles).
In their latest effort versus South Alabama on September 27, the Mean Green held a two-score lead heading into the final quarter. North Texas was able to maintain that pace in an eventual win 36-22. QB Drew Mestemaker was 14-of-26 for 234 yards and a touchdown, while Caleb Hawkins carried 16 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns rushing. Leading the team in receiving was Hawkins as well with two catches for 78 yards and a score. Miles Coleman added four catches for 37 yards in the victory as well.

North Texas vs South Florida Prediction
I’ll stay with South Florida. That said, you could make a case either way here; it should be a pretty fun game to check out. The Bulls got past a one-win Charlotte team pretty easily in their latest outing, holding the 49ers to 279 yards (149 passing), 15 first downs and 4-of-12 on third-down tries. The four takeaways on defense were nice, as were Charlotte’s 11 penalties for 81 yards. On offense USF secured a whopping 407 rush yards (631 total) but also had four turnovers themselves. Following a two-game lull versus some tough opponents, the Bulls are back to business on the scoreboard. They’ve posted a combined 117 points across just the last two games.
As for the Mean Green, they didn’t have too much trouble versus South Alabama in their last outing—despite giving up 204 rushing yards and only going 4-of-13 on third-down tries themselves. North Texas has scored at least 33 points in all five games so far this year, so we could have a lot of fireworks on the scoreboard here.
