Notre Dame vs Miami Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Irish, but you could certainly make a case either way. Notre Dame started a little slowly in their win over Navy last weekend but finished strong. The Irish eventually posted 25 first downs, 204 rush yards and 426 total yards in the victory. Defensively Notre Dame allowed just 15 first downs and 245 total yards in a pretty nice effort. The Irish needed a good bounce-back after the four-point loss to BYU, and they got it.

As for Miami, they’re coming off a tight road win versus a pesky North Carolina squad. The Hurricanes managed 25 first downs and 416 total yards in that one, going 6-of-11 on third-down tries. Miami gave up quite a bit on defense, though: 27 first downs, 407 total yards and an excellent 8-of-11 on third downs (not to mention 2-of-2 on fourth downs). All of that said, Miami is still playing excellent football and scoring on everyone. The Hurricanes have 33 or more points in all eight games this year so we could have a shootout on our hands.

Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview

Needless to say, the Hurricanes have had a pretty nice run so far this year. Miami opened up the season with a blowout win over Stanford, then took out Florida A&M and Wake Forest in the next pair. The Hurricanes would then beat Central Michigan, Clemson and Florida State before a win over Pittsburgh. Across the first seven games of the season that would give the Hurricanes a cool 7-0 record.

In game eight versus North Carolina, the Hurricanes had a very close call. Miami scored a TD in the first quarter, then traded scores along the way to a 17-14 halftime advantage. the Hurricanes were down 28-24 at one point in the fourth quarter but rallied for a couple more TDs in a 38-35 victory. QB Darian Mensah was 22-of-29 for 274 yards and three scores. Javian Mallory had 12 carries for 51 yards and Malachi Toney caught seven balls for 75 yards and a pair of the touchdowns.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Preview

Over on the Notre Dame side, they opened up the year on a great run as well before taking a tough loss last month. The Irish beat Wisconsin, Rice and Michigan State in their first trio of outings, then followed that up with wins over Purdue, North Carolina and Stanford. Notre Dame fell for the first time this year on October 17 versus BYU though. The loss would be the only blemish through the first seven games and a 6-1 run.

Matched up against Navy on Halloween, the Irish gave up a few scores in the first half and were down 13-7 at one point. Notre Dame got into the groove though, and went to the break with a 14-13 edge. The Irish kept it up from there with a few more second-half scores and won the game pretty easily 35-13. QB CJ Carr was 19-of-29 for 210 yards and two touchdowns while Nolan James had nine carries for 107 yards and two scores of his own.
