Baylor opened up their year against Texas State, eventually pulling out a 29-20 win. The Bears didn’t have much trouble in their next pair of outings. In that pair Baylor took out Texas Southern 66-7 and then beat Kansas 45-7 to stay undefeated.
In week four versus Iowa State, the Bears were outscored 16-10 in the second half but hung on for a 31-29 win. QB Gerry Bohanon had 164 yards with two TDs on 14-of-19 passing. Abram Smith led the rushers with 10 carries for 47 yards.
Over on the Oklahoma State side, they had a trio of tense matchups to open the season, but ultimately came out on the winning side in all of them. The Cowboys took out Missouri State 23-16 in the opener, then beat Tulsa 28-23 and Boise State 21-20 to move to 3-0.
The Cowboys are coming off a matchup versus Kansas State. Oklahoma State put up 21 points in the first quarter on the way to a 31-20 victory. Spencer Sanders went 22-of-34 for 344 yards and two scores. Jaylen Warren led the rush attack with 123 yards on 27 carries.
The Bears are 12-3 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 road games. Baylor is also 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight overall.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 33-16-1 ATS in their last 50 in October and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. OK State is 2-5 ATS in their last seven conference games as well.
PICK: I’m going to go with OK State. You could make a pretty good argument either way here, however. The Cowboys were in control of most facets of the game last weekend, putting up 481 total yards, 25 first downs and 8-of-17 on third-down tries. It was an impressive effort versus a good Kansas State team.
As for Baylor, they gave up 479 yards to Iowa State last weekend, along with 27 first downs and 73 total plays. The Bears were efficient when they needed to be, and held on for a great win. I like this one to be close most of the way with the Cowboys eking out a late cover. Should be fun.
