The Kansas State Wildcats and the Oklahoma State Cowboys meet Saturday in college football action from Boone Pickens Stadium. Here’s an Oklahoma State vs Kansas State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Oklahoma State vs Kansas State pick.
Kansas State Wildcats Betting Preview
The Wildcats’ season kicked off on a pretty rough 1-3 run with a lone win over North Dakota amid losses to Iowa State, Army and Arizona. Kansas State would go 3-1 over the next four, losing to only Baylor (by a single point) amid wins over Central Florida, TCU and Kansas. In the 42-17 win over the Jayhawks on October 25, the Wildcats gained 371 yards with 17 first downs but went just 3-of-10 on third-down tries. The defense gave up 247 yards on the other side along with 18 first downs and 3.2 yards par play. The four takeaways helped as well.
Kansas State was last in action on November 1 versus Texas Tech. In that home matchup the Wildcats held an early lead but gave up double-digit points in each of the final three quarters on the way to a 43-20 loss. QB Avery Johnson logged 199 yards, one TD and two picks on 16-of-33 passing. Johnson did a little better on the ground, where he led the team in rushing during the loss with 15 totes for 88 yards and two more scores. Garrett Oakley was the leading receiver with five grabs for 62 yards and a touchdown of his own in the defeat.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Betting Preview
Over on the OK State side, they beat TN-Martin in their first game of the season then hit a rough losing stretch. The next seven games were all defeats courtesy of Oregon, Tulsa, Baylor, Arizona, Houston, Cincinnati and Texas Tech. In the 42-0 road blowout defeat versus the Red Raiders on October 25, the Cowboys gained just 182 yards, 87 pass yards, nine first downs and 5-of-17 on third-down tries alongside two lost fumbles. The defense coughed up 370 yards on the other side with 9-of-16 on third downs allowed in the defeat.
Oklahoma State’s most recent game was back on November 1 versus Kansas. That one was more of the same: following a 7-3 first-quarter edge the Cowboys ended up surrendering 28 points in the second half along the way to a 38-21 defeat. Zane Flores went 22-of-28 for 235 yards and two touchdowns while Rodney Fields topped the rush with 56 yards on 15 carries. Terrill Davis caught five balls for 78 yards, while Gavin Freeman caught seven balls for 78 yards and a score in the losing effort.

Oklahoma State vs Kansas State Prediction
I’ll lean toward Kansas State. That said, I’m probably staying away. There’s not a lot to get excited about here with both teams coming off losses. In any case, the Wildcats had some struggles versus a good Texas Tech team in their last matchup, posting just 199 pass yards and 11 first downs alongside a whopping five turnovers (three fumbles). The defense couldn’t keep up despite bagging a couple of takeaways; they ended up surrendering 436 yards, 5.7 yards per play and 18 first downs. Kansas State had been scoring well over the previous four games however, with at least 34 points in each.
As for Oklahoma State, they’re losing consistently these days but not looking downright horrible as they do it. The Cowboys gained 316 yards versus Kansas in their latest defeat with 19 first downs and 8-of-14 on third-down tries. The defense gave up 232 rush yards and 6-of-10 on third downs though. That’s where Kansas State will need to concentrate if they want to control this weekend’s matchup.
