Oklahoma State vs Texas Tech Prediction

I’ll lean toward Texas Tech but this one could get very interesting. You could argue it either way, in fact. The Raiders barely escaped a surging West Virginia team last weekend, piling up 638 total yards, 276 rush yards, 26 first downs and an 8-of-16 success rate on third-down tries. Defensively Texas Tech gave up 18 fist downs, 7-of-15 on third downs and 582 yards (279 rushing) without a takeaway. It wasn’t the prettiest win in the world but the Raiders got through it. Texas Tech has scored 28 or more points in all eight of their wins this season.

As for Oklahoma State, they demolished a middling Kansas State squad last weekend to the tune of 565 total yards, 26 first downs and 4-of-8 on third-down tries. The Cowboys did have a couple of turnovers, though. The defense was great on 327 yards and 16 first downs allowed along with three picks. Oklahoma State is a choppy 2-2 in their last four games but they’ve been scoring very well since the loss to Tulsa in the opener. I could see the Cowboys being  very competitive here.

Texas Tech Red Raiders Betting Preview

The Red Raiders have put together a pretty darn good season so far. Texas Tech’s only blemish this year came on October 24 in a 37-24 loss at Cincinnati. Outside of that it’s been all victories. The Raiders have recorded wins versus Abilene Christian, Oregon State, Houston, Sam Houston, Colorado, Arizona State, Arizona and West Virginia otherwise, giving the team a nice 8-1 record in the books for their campaign.

In last weekend’s matchup versus West Virginia, the Raiders faced a wild first half. When the dust settled at the break, Texas Tech had a 41-27 edge. The Red Raiders slowed down in the second half but still were able to hold off the Mountaineers for a 53-48 win. QB Thomas Castellanos was 18-of-27 for 362 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for 102 yards. J’Koby Williams had 19 carries for 160 yards and a score himself, while Kenny Johnson topped the receivers on five grabs for 84 yards and two scores.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Betting Preview

Over on the Oklahoma State side, they lost their opener this year versus Tulsa, but then got their groove back on four straight wins. Those victories came courtesy of Oregon, Murray State, West Virginia and Central Florida. The Cowboys are 2-2 since then with wins over Colorado and Kansas State mixed among losses to Houston and Iowa State. In nine games so far that gives Oklahoma State a 6-3 run.

Matched up against Kansas State on the road last weekend the Cowboys scored four TDs in the first quarter alone and went to the break with a 49-14 edge. Oklahoma State cruised from there, rolling to a 66-28 victory. QB Drew Mestemaker was 22-of-28 for 313 yards, four scores and a pick. Caleb Hawkins rushed 20 times for 175 yards and three touchdowns. Leading the team in receiving during the winning effort was Miles Coleman. He had six catches for 95 yards and a touchdown.
