Over on the Lions’ side, they opened up the season with wins over Nevada, FIU and Villanova. Penn State vs Nebraska Prediction
I’ll lean toward Nebraska. The Cornhuskers had to hang on versus UCLA in a home win during their last outing though, finishing with 361 total yards, 205 pass yards, 6.7 yards per play, 20 first downs and 5-of-8 on third-down tries. The defense posted 348 yards, 191 pass yards, 21 first downs and 8-of-14 allowed on third downs without a takeaway. Nebraska has scored 28 points in two of their last three games, winning both of those outings. Hitting the scoreboard a few times early on in this matchup will go a long way.
As for Penn State, they had a nice defensive effort versus Michigan State last weekend. The Nittany Lions gave up just 229 total yards, 128 pass yards, 4.7 yards per play, 12 first downs and 1-of-10 on third-down tries. Penn State’s offense notched 240 rushing yards and 5.8 yards per play, but also went just 2-of-10 on third-down conversion attempts. The run was working though, as the Lions held the ball for 37:19 of game time. Penn State has scored reasonably well this year, even when they’re losing. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a decent total in this one.
