Delaware Blue Hens Betting Preview
The Hens posted a solid 3-1 run in their first quartet this year, beating Delaware State, UConn and FIU alongside a lone loss to Colorado. Delaware would lose three of the next four however, beating Middle Tennessee with losses otherwise versus Western Kentucky, Jacksonville State and Liberty. In the loss to the Flames on November 1, the Hens gave up 561 total yards, 282 rush yards, 8.8 yards per play, 6-of-10 on third downs and 25 first downs total during a 59-30 result on the scoreboard. Delaware’s offense came up with 420 yards on the other side.
In their matchup with Louisiana Tech last weekend, the Hens held a slim 9-7 edge by the break and added a TD in the third. Delaware was outscored 17-9 in the final frame however and had to hang on for the 25-24 win in the end. Tops in receiving during the tight victory was Sean Wilson with five catches for 107 yards total.
Sam Houston State Bearkats Betting Preview
Over on the Sam Houston State side, they kicked off the season on a lengthy losing skid. In their first eight games of the year, the Bearkats lost to Western Kentucky, UNLV, Hawaii, Texas, New Mexico State, Jacksonville State, UTEP and LA Tech in succession. In their loss to the Bulldogs 55-14 on October 31, Sam Houston State gave up a whopping 646 yards total, 425 rush yards, 10.8 yards per play, 29 first downs and 4-of-6 on third-down conversions. The Bearkats mustered 502 yards on the other side but it wasn’t nearly enough to stay close.
Matched up against Oregon State on Saturday the Bearkats finally broke through into the win column. Sam Houston was down by 10 points at the half, then outscored the Beavers 14-0 the rest of the way in a 21-17 comeback road victory. Sam Houston State vs Delaware Prediction
I’ll stick with Delaware. The Hens nearly shot themselves in the foot during the fourth quarter of their most recent win, and ended up with just 4-of-15 on third downs, two picks and 12 team penalties for 114 yards. It was a sloppy game on both sides though, as LA Tech had nine flags of their own. Delaware’s passing game saved them, as the team mustered 304 yards through the air in the tight home victory. The Hens now have 24 or more points in seven straight.
As for Sam Houston, they’re coming off a wild game in their first win. The Bearkats mustered just 157 total yards with 3.3 yards per play, eight first downs and 3-of-13 on third-down tries. Sam Houston’s defense gave up 474 yards with 28 first downs on the other side but also had three takeaways on the way to an improbable victory. It’s great for Sam Houston to finally get that proverbial monkey off their back with a win, but they’ve still got major issues. I don’t think they’ll play well enough to cover here with those kinds of stats in the books.
