The Kentucky Wildcats and South Carolina Gamecocks clash Saturday in a week 6 SEC college football game from Kroger Field.
The South Carolina Gamecocks come into this one looking to build on back-to-back wins after a 50-10 win over FCS South Carolina State last time out. Spencer Rattler has thrown for 1,121 yards, 4 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on 64.9% passing while MarShawn Lloyd’s rushed for a team-high 324 yards and 6 touchdowns. Antwane Wells Jr. has a team-high 309 receiving yards and 24 receptions while Jalen Brooks has 298 receiving yards for the Gamecocks as well this season. On defense, Nick Emmanwori has a team-high 34 total tackles including 29 solo tackles while South Carolina’s defensive unit has combined for 4 sacks and 7 interceptions this season.
The Kentucky Wildcats will try to bounce back from a 22-19 loss to Ole Miss in their first defeat of the season. Will Levis has thrown for 1,405 yards, 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 68.8% passing while Kavosley Smoke’s rushed for 269 yards this season. Tayvion Robinson has a team-high 24 catches for 365 receiving yards and 3 scores while Barion Brown and Dane Key have combined for 551 yards receiving with 5 touchdowns. On defense, DeAndre Square also has a team-high 32 total tackles while Kentucky’s defense has combined for 6 sacks and 4 interceptions this season.
South Carolina is 0-4 ATS in 5heir last 4 road games and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 conference games while the over is 10-1 in their last 11 road games. Kentucky is 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 19-5-2 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with. Winning record while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall.
I get the reasoning for backing either side in this game, but I’m still hopping on the Wildcats here. I came into the year thinking that Spencer Rattler would make more of a difference for the Gamecocks, but the reality is that there are bigger problems for South Carolina that a high-level transfer QB can’t even fix. Kentucky is one of the SEC teams that keeps flying under the radar year after year and I just like what Kentucky is doing so far this season. I envision this one finishing 34-20 for Kentucky, so give me the Wildcats laying the points here.
