The LSU Tigers and Mississippi State Bulldogs meet Saturday in SEC week 3 college football action at Tiger Stadium. The Mississippi State Bulldogs look for their first 3-0 start since the 2018 season. The LSU Tigers look to get a game above a .500 record.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have won 4 of their last 5 road games. Will Rogers is completing 78.6 percent of his passes for 763 yards, 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Rara Thomas and Caleb Ducking have combined for 273 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns, while Rufus Harvey has 11 receptions. The Mississippi State Bulldogs ground game is averaging 101.5 yards per contest, and Dillon Johnson leads the way with 127 yards on 25 carries. Defensively, Mississippi State is allowing 20 points and 309 yards per game. Jett Johnson leads the Mississippi State Bulldogs with 20 tackles, Nathan Pickering has 1 sack and Emmanuel Forbes has 1 interception.

The LSU Tigers have won 6 of their last 8 home games. Jayden Daniels is completing 78.3 percent of his passes for 346 yards, 5 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. have combined for 214 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns, while Kayshon Boutte has 7 receptions. The LSU Tigers ground game is averaging 184.5 yards per contest, and Daniels leads the way with 132 yards and 1 touchdown. Defensively, LSU is allowing 20.5 points and 327 yards per game. Greg Penn III leads the LSU Tigers with 11 tackles, West Weeks has 0.5 sacks and Micah Baskerville has 1 interception.

The Bulldogs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Tigers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games on grass. The under is 42-20 in Bulldogs last 62 conference games. The over is 9-3 in Tigers last 12 games in September. The under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are probably the more complete team at this stage as it feels like guys know their role, and they’re off to a fine start, especially defensively. The LSU Tigers are a bit young and still trying to find their way, it feels like. However, night games at Tiger Stadium are no joke and there’s obvious talent on both sides of the ball. LSU also went on the road last year and beat Mississippi State. This is closer to a toss up game for me. I’ll take a shot with LSU and the free points. As decent or good as Mississippi State may be, I need to see a bit more before I start laying chalk in conference on the road.
