Stanford Cardinal Betting Preview

The Stanford Cardinal are 4-7 (3-5) this season after they defeated California by a score of 31-10 in their last game. Stanford trailed 10-7 in the second quarter, but they scored the last 24 points to pull away for the relatively easy win. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Preview

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 9-2 this year after they defeated Syracuse by a score of 70-7 in their last game. Notre Dame led 49-0 at halftime and 70-0 in the fourth, but allowed a late touchdown to ruin the shutout. The Fighting Irish out gained Syracuse by a total of 396-207, went 4-7 on third downs, and won the turnover battle by a total of 3-0 in the game. CJ Carr went 5-9 for 49 yards and one touchdown, while Jeremiyah Love rushed eight times for 171 yards and three scores. Jordan Faison led the receivers with two catches for 21 yards in the win.

Why the Stanford Cardinal will win

  • Stanford has won three of its last four November games as an underdog against top-10 AP-ranked teams.
  • The underdog has covered the spread in five of Stanford’s last six games at Stanford Stadium.
  • The team ranked 9th in the AP Poll has failed to cover the spread in six of its last eight games against non-AP-ranked teams.

Total Points Facts

  • Each of Notre Dame’s last five games in California have gone OVER the total points line.
  • Each of Stanford’s last four home games against opponents from the FBS Independents have gone OVER the total points line.

Matchup/League Facts

  • Stanford ranks 135th among FBS teams for passing yards allowed per game this season (284.5).
  • Stanford ranks 134th among FBS teams for rushing yards per game this season (83.5).
  • Notre Dame ranks T1st among FBS teams for interceptions this season (20).
  • Notre Dame has won the third quarter in each of its last 10 games – longest active streak in the FBS.

Stanford vs Notre Dame Prediction

Notre Dame lost their first two games of the season and a lot of people wrote them off, but they have won nine straight and are knocking on the door of another CFP appearance. The Fighting Irish have scored at least 34 points in four of their last five games and they have allowed 15 or fewer in four straight. Stanford did get a win over Cal last weekend, but that was mainly due to Cal’s turnover issues. I do think Stanford could show some fight in the first half and I think this is too many points on the road. Take the Cardinal and the points.
