The West Virginia Mountaineers and the TCU Horned Frogs meet Saturday in college football action from Amon G Carter Stadium in Fort Worth. Here’s a TCU vs West Virginia prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best TCU vs West Virginia pick.
West Virginia Mountaineers Betting Preview
The Mountaineers have had their ups and downs so far this year but they’re still above the .500 mark. West Virginia beat Coastal Carolina, TN-Martin and Virginia in their first three games then fell to Oklahoma State, Iowa State and Arizona in succession after that. Following a win over Cincinnati the Mountaineers are 4-3 overall on the season through seven games.
In the matchup with Cincinnati last weekend the Mountaineers fought through a wild first half and were trailing 21-14 by the break. West Virginia got to work in the second half and eventually powered out a 45-42 victory as time expired. QB Michael Hawkins was 25-of-33 for 464 yards and three scores while also leading the rush on 26 totes for 77 yards and two TDs.
TCU Horned Frogs Betting Preview
Over on the Frogs’ side, they’ve been a mixed bag through six games so far this season. TCU started out with a loss to North Carolina then beat Grambling and Arkansas State. Two more losses followed versus Central Florida and BYU over the next pair. Following a win over Baylor last weekend the Frogs have evened up their record at 3-3 through a half-dozen outings.
Matched up against Baylor last weekend the Frogs scored in the first quarter then gave up a couple of field goals for a 7-6 advantage after the half. TCU tacked on another 10 points in the third quarter and held on for the road win 17-6 in the end. QB Jaden Craig was 21-of-36 for 294 yards, two scores and an interception. Jordan Dwyer caught six balls for 150 yards.

TCU vs West Virginia Prediction
I’ll stick with West Virginia but it’s a coin flip. The Mountaineers came up with 598 yards, 464 pass yards, 27 first downs and zero turnovers in their tight win over Cincinnati last weekend. Defensively WVU gave up 622 yards and 28 first downs with zero takeaways, though. The Mountaineers are scoring well this year; they’ve got 24 or more points in every game and 31 or more in six of seven.
As for TCU, they posted 327 yards with 18 first downs in their win over Baylor. The Frogs gave up 23 first downs and 310 yards on defense but did well on third downs (6-of-21) and had two takeaways. TCU has 17 or fewer points in three straight games but they’ve held opponents to 21 or fewer in those outings as well.
