The Temple Owls meet the Wagner Seahawks Saturday in Week 4 college football action from Lincoln Financial Field. Wagner is coming off a matchup versus St. Francis PA in their last outing. The Seahawks lost by 15 points in that game. As for Temple, they played they played Boston College last weekend. In that one, the Owls posted a blowout defeat. Wagner had a ton of issues with Buffalo in their opener, coughing up 38 first-half points on the way to a rough 69-7 blowout loss. The Seahawks fared better versus Central Connecticut in game two, but still lost 21-19 after a 10-7 deficit in the first half.
In game three versus St. Francis PA, the Seahawks had a 14-6 halftime lead but couldn’t hold it in a 39-24 defeat. QB Jaalon Frazier had 216 yards with two scores and a pick, while Chris Collier had 73 yards rushing off 14 carries.
Over on the Temple side, they got a tough draw in week one versus Rutgers. The Owls fell 61-14 in that game and got outscored 35-7 in the second half. Game two was better for the Owls, as they rode a 24-17 halftime edge to a 45-24 victory to get back to .500 on the year.
Temple played Boston College in their last appearance. In that one, the Owls couldn’t find the scoreboard until the fourth quarter in a 28-3 defeat. Quarterback Justin Lynch had 161 yards on 17-of-24 passing and also led the rush with 27 yards.
PICK: I’m going to try Wagner in this one, but there’s not a whole lot to like here. The Seahawks couldn’t do much after halftime in their last outing, giving up 33 points in the final two quarters. The good news is that Wagner had a pretty well-balanced (though somewhat tepid) offensive attack.
As for Temple, they gave up 187 rushing yards to Boston College and went just 3-of-14 on third downs themselves. The Owls also posted 11 penalties for 66 yards. Temple should be able to bounce back and play better here, but I think the Seahawks can get in there on a cover.
