UAB and Tennessee meet Saturday in Week 4 college football action from Neyland Stadium. Here’s a Tennessee vs UAB prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Tennessee Volunteers vs UAB Blazers pick.

Can UAB Build on the Last Game?

UAB in the last game faced off against Akron and they were able to secure the 31-28 victory. UAB had scored 31 points by halftime, and in the second half, they were shut out. The defense gave up eight points in the 4th quarter, and they almost blew it. Jalen Kitna is under center for UAB and he had a solid game, completing 30 of his 45 passes for 341 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He was pretty consistent, but the interception was an issue and they need him to take better care of the ball.

UAB on the season is averaging 35.67 points while their defense is giving up 36 points per game. The offense is ranked 50th in the league while the defense is ranked 122nd. The defense has left a lot to be improved.

Why UAB Will Beat Tennessee

  • The road team has covered the spread in each of UAB’s last three games.

How Does Tennessee Bounce Back?

Tennessee comes into this game with a 2-1 record overall but they have to be disappointed with what happened in the last game against Georgia. Tennessee had a chance to kick a game winning field goal as time expired, but they missed it and they ended up losing by three points in overtime. Joey Aguilar had a solid game, but the interceptions were a problem and need to be cleaned up. He finished the game completing 24 of his 36 passes for 371 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions.

The defense also allowed 304 yards through the air, and even though they have a good offense, I am not sure they want to continue to try and win shootouts. The Volunteers on the season is averaging 52.67 points while their defense is giving up 29 points per game. In this game, the offense will be there, they just really need the defense to be a whole lot better.

Why Tennessee Will Beat UAB

  • Tennessee has won each of its last 12 games against non-conference opponents at Neyland Stadium.
  • UAB has lost 18 of its last 19 road games.
  • Tennessee has covered the spread in each of its last six games against non-conference opponents at Neyland Stadium.
  • UAB has failed to cover the spread in four of its last five games against non-conference opponents.
  • UAB has lost the first half in four of its last five road games against non-conference opponents.

UAB vs Tennessee Prediction

Tennessee is going to win, and I expect they are going to win by plenty of points, but winning by almost 40 points? Yeah, I don’t think so. UAB has a very good offense in Kitna, and in the last game he threw for a couple of touchdowns. Tennessee’s defense showed some major holes against Georgia, and although they might not give up more than 40 like they did in that game, they are going to give up at least 20 points to UAB, and that will end up being the difference here. UAB keeps it within 20 points. Back UAB to cover the spread.
