The Texas A&M Aggies meet the Mississippi State Bulldogs Saturday in Week 5 SEC college football action from Kyle Field. Mississippi State matched up against LSU this past weekend. In that one the Bulldogs took a tough three-point defeat. As for the Aggies, they’re coming off a game versus Arkansas. Texas A&M ended up losing by 10 points in that game. Mississippi State played a tight game right out of the gate this year, eking out a 35-34 win over LA Tech in the opener. The Bulldogs would follow that up with a solid 24-10 win over North Carolina State, but they then took a rough 31-29 loss to Memphis in game three.
In their last matchup versus LSU, Mississippi State posted 15 points in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough to come back in a rough 28-25 loss. QB Will Rogers put up 371 yards with three scores and a pick, while Makai Polk led the receivers with 78 yards from eight receptions.
Over on the Texas A&M side, they didn’t have a whole lot of problems versus Kent State in their opener, powering out a 41-10 win. The Aggies had to scratch and claw against Colorado in game two during a 10-7 win, then bounced back with a 34-0 win over New Mexico.
Texas A&M played Arkansas in their last game. The Aggies posted a disappointing effort there, giving up 17 first-half points on the way to a 20-10 loss. QB Zach Calzada went 20-of-36 for 151 yards and a pick; Isaiah Spiller rushed for 95 yards and a score on 12 totes.
The Bulldogs are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 conference games and 4-10 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Mississippi State is 5-12 ATS in their last 17 road games as well.
Meanwhile, the Aggies are 5-1 ATS in their last six on grass and 5-2 ATS in their last seven conference games. Texas A&M is also 1-4 ATS in their last five at home.
PICK: I’m going to take a shot on the Bulldogs in this SEC matchup. Mississippi State put up a nice offensive showing overall in their last game, with 486 total yards and 29 first downs. The Bulldogs did allow LSU to run a very efficient offense however, as well as coughing up a pair of turnovers.
As for Texas A&M, they never really found their footing against the Razorbacks, notching just 272 total yards and 15 first downs. The Aggies also committed 11 penalties and punted eight times. I like Texas A&M to play better here, with MS State bagging a cover.
