In this article, we will formulate a Texas vs UTSA prediction for this College Football Week 3 game on Saturday, September 14th, at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Let’s take a look at a Texas Longhorns vs UTSA Roadrunners pick.
UTSA looks to bounce back
UTSA faced off against Kennesaw State in the last game and they were able to secure the 28-16 victory. In the last game, though, against Texas State, UTSA only scored 10 points while the defense gave up 49 points, and that led to the defeat. UTSA was down 14-3 at the end of the first quarter, and they couldn’t bounce back. Under center for UTSA was Eddie Lee Marburger and he completed 14 of his 27 passes for 147 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
UTSA had some major issues getting the offense going with the running game and that is going to need to be better here. If the offense struggles in this game, it’s going to be a very long game. The defense probably won’t stop Texas either, but they are going to need to try and make life tough.
Texas Made a Statement
Texas made quite a statement in the last game. Texas, in the first game, faced off against Colorado State 52-0, and in the last game against Michigan, they were able to secure a 31-12 victory. The offense scored 31 points and they could have been even higher if it wasn’t for taking the foot off the gas. Quinn Ewers had a strong game, completing 24 of his 36 passes for 246 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
The running game didn’t have one star, but it was a balanced attack with four different players finishing with at least 20 yards. The top wide receiver was Gunnar Helm who caught seven passes for 98 yards. In this game, it’s going to be all about the offense putting on another show. This Texas team really looks like one of the best in football and they just can’t be overlooking this game.
Texas vs UTSA Prediction
Texas knew they wanted to put on a statement in the last game, Michigan, but in this game, the motivation is going to be a little less. Texas is still going to want to win the game, but they don’t feel like they need to win this game by 30 or 40 points. UTSA is going to get a strong game from quarterback Eddie Lee Marburger and he’s going to do enough to keep this game close. UTSA will keep it within 28 points. Back UTSA against the spread here.
