Akron’s offense was awful in the first two games of the season, but they are showing some signs of life the last few games. Two games ago against UAB, Akron was competitive, but they ended up losing 31-28. In the last game against Dusquene, Akron scored 51 points and the defense gave up only seven points. Ben Finley had a strong game completing 13 of his 23 passes for 219 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Jordan Grant also had a huge game finishing with 13 carries for 161 yards and three touchdowns. A balanced offensive attack is going to be a major key here. 

Akron on the season, is averaging 19.75 points while their defense is giving up 29 points per game. The offense is ranked 113th while the defense is ranked 105th. Of course, the defense needs to be good, but if the offense has one of those games they score only seven points, it’s not going to matter.

Two games ago against Morgan State, Toledo sure looked impressive and they were able to pick up the 60 point victory. In the last game against Western Michigan though, Toledo only scored 13 points, and although the defense gave up only 14 points, it was stil not enough to pick up the victory. Tucker Gleason completed 15 of his 30 passes for 89 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. Turnovers can’t continue to be a problem in this game. Chip Trayanum did have quite the game on the ground rushing 26 times for 153 yards and a touchdown. 

Toledo on the season is averaging 33.5 points while their defense is giving up 14.75 points per game. The stats are a little inflated from two games ago though. The Rockets offense is ranked 53rd in college football while the defense is ranked 25th.

• Toledo has won each of its last nine September games at Glass Bowl.

I believe Akron can put up some sort of fight here, and with the boatload of points you are getting, it’s nice to have them in your back pocket. Akron’s offense has been showing some major signs of life in the last few games, and even though it only resulted in one win, they should have a lot of confidence moving the ball now.
