The Charlotte 49ers and the Tulane Green Wave meet Saturday in college football action from Yulman Stadium. Here’s a Tulane vs Charlotte prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Tulane vs Charlotte pick.

Charlotte 49ers Betting Preview

Needless to say, it’s been a tough year for the 49ers. They’ve only been able to hang one win on the board so far, and they’re all but out of time to get another. Charlotte opened with losses to App State and North Carolina, then got their lone victory over Monmouth. Since then however, it’s been a long string of eight straight losses. Those have come versus Rice, South Florida, Army, Temple, North Texas, East Carolina, UTSA and Georgia in succession.

In the Georgia game last weekend, the 49ers were trailing 28-3 by halftime. After giving up another touchdown in the third quarter Charlotte was well on their way to a 35-3 blowout loss. QB Grayson Loftis put up a 14-of-27 line for 130 yards and two picks while Jariel Cobb had seven carries for 26 yards. Leading the receiving for the 49ers during the blowout loss was E. Jai Mason, who caught one 38-yard pass. Javen Nicholas added six catches for 24 yards as well.

Tulane Green Wave Betting Preview

Over on the Tulane side, they kicked off their season with three straight victories. Those wins came in succession versus Northwestern, South Alabama and Duke. Following a loss to Ole Miss, the Wave took out Tulsa, East Carolina and Army ahead of another loss to UTSA. Tulane would win their next pair over Memphis and Florida Atlantic however, improving their record to 8-2 overall through 10 games.

Last weekend versus Temple, the Wave managed to score in every quarter (including double-digits in three of four) on the way to a 37-13 blowout win. QB Jake Retzlaff was 17-of-28 for 231 yards and two touchdowns while Jamari McClure added 17 carries for 122 yards. Shazz Preston had five catches for 96 yards and a touchdown of his own as the team’s leading receiver in the victory effort.

Tulane vs Charlotte Prediction

I’ll stick with Tulane but the line’s too thick to mess with. The Green Wave did a pretty good job in their win over Temple last weekend, tallying 406 yards, 175 rush yards, 6.0 yards per play, 21 first downs and no turnovers. The only major area of complaint was the 3-of-12 success rate on third downs. The defense gave up just 204 yards on the other side with 14 first downs and 5-of-15 on third downs. Tulane has now won three straight games with 35 or more points scored in each of those victories.
As for Charlotte, there aren’t a lot of positive things to point out. The 49ers were demolished by a great Georgia team in their last outing, posting just 169 total yards, 39 rush yards, 3.8 yards per play, seven first downs and 1-of-11 on third-down tries alongside a pair of interceptions. On defense Charlotte gave up 449 yards, 192 rush yards, 6.0 yards per play, 30 first downs and an acceptable 4-of-10 on third-down tries. The 49ers have just 10 combined points over their last two games, and they’ve given up 28 or more points in five straight. It’s not looking good for the Niners here.
