UAB vs Charlotte 10/15/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UAB Blazers and Charlotte 49ers meet Saturday in week 7 C-USA college football action from Protective Stadium. Charlotte is coming off an open week. The 49ers are sitting at 1-5 so far this year. As for UAB, they played Middle Tennessee over the weekend. In that one the Blazers took a blowout victory. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Charlotte started out the year with a three-game losing streak, falling to Florida Atlantic 43-13, William & Mary 41-24 and Maryland 56-21. The 49ers got a 42-41 win over Georgia State in game four, but then fell to South Carolina and UTEP in the next pair. 

In the UTEP matchup, the 49ers outscored the Miners 28-17 in the second half but it wasn’t enough to come back in a 41-35 defeat. QB Chris Reynolds posted 347 yards with four touchdowns and a pick, and Shadrick Byrd led the rush with 80 yards and a score. 

Over on the UAB side, they opened their campaign with a 59-0 blowout victory over Alabama A&M. The Blazers fell to Liberty 21-14 in the next game, then took out Georgia Southern 35-21. In game four UAB fell again, this time 28-24 to Rice. 

In the Middle Tennessee game over the weekend, UAB stormed out to a 38-7 halftime lead and cruised to the eventual 41-14 win. Quarterback Dylan Hopkins managed 278 yards with a score, and DeWayne McBride logged 120 yards and three scores off 12 carries.

PICK: I’m probably staying with UAB but not touching it. The Blazers ran all over Middle Tennessee in their last outing, notching 303 rush yards and 8.9 yards per play in the blowout win. UAB wasn’t perfect, but it was a pretty solid all-around effort to get the team back above .500 again. 

As for Charlotte, they didn’t play terribly against UTEP in their last outing—outside of eight penalties, 425 yards allowed and three turnovers, that is. The extra week of work should do the 49ers some good, but I don’t think they’ll cover here.
