The UAB Blazers and FAU Owls square off in a week 6 Conference USA college football meeting from Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday.
The FAU Owls will be out to add to their 58-21 rout of rival FIU in their last game. N’Kosi Perry’s thrown for 1,278 yards, 10 touchdowns and a pick on 59.9% passing while Johnny Ford and Malcolm Davidson have each rushed for at least 200 yards, combining for 511 yards this year. LaJohntay Wester, Ja’Quan Burton and Brandon Robinson make up FAU’s group of three 200+ yard receivers this season. On defense, Jordan Heim has a team-high 40 total tackles while Jaylen Joyner has 3 sacks.
The UAB Blazers will look to bounce back from a 36-12 loss to Liberty in their last matchup. Dylan Hopkins has thrown for 653 yards, 7 touchdowns and a pair of interceptions while DeWayne McBride and Jermaine Brown Jr. have combined for 670 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns as UAB’s pair of 300+ yard rushers this season. Gerrit Prince and Trea Shropshire each have 200+ receiving yards while Will Boler has a team-high 23 total tackles on UAB’s defense and Keondre Swoopes has a pair of interceptions.
FAU is 26-9 ATS in their last 35 games as a road underdog and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record. UAB is 13-4-1 ATS in their last 18 games following a loss and 23-10-1 ATS in their last 34 conference games while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall.
This should be an interesting matchup between two teams that just play each other hard when they share the field regardless of record, but I’m still siding with FAU and the points here. FAU has thrived in the road underdog role, covering 26 of their last 35 games in that spot and I just think at this number there’s value as I can see this one finishing in a 3-4 point win for UAB at most. Give me the points with FAU here.
