The South Florida Bulls and the UAB Blazers meet Saturday in college football action from Protective Stadium. Here’s a UAB vs South Florida prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best UAB vs South Florida pick.
South Florida Bulls Betting Preview
South Florida beat Boise State and Florida in their first two games before a loss to Miami. The Bulls would then beat South Carolina State, Charlotte, North Texas and Florida Atlantic before another loss to Memphis. USF bounced back the next game with a victory over UTSA, though. In that 55-23 outcome versus the Roadrunners, South Florida scored a whopping 31 points in the second quarter alone. The offense would end up gaining 471 total yards with 238 rush yards and 9.4 yards per play but went just 2-of-8 on third-down tries in the win.
Last weekend in their game versus Navy, South Florida was in major trouble heading into the fourth quarter with a 24-16 deficit. Following a wild 22-17 advantage in the final frame, USF came up just short in a 41-38 road loss. QB Byrum Brown was 23-of-32 for 327 yards, two scores and a pick. Brown also led the rush with 17 carries for 136 yards and two TDs, while lead receiver Jeremiah Koger had nine grabs for 112 yards and a score in the losing effort. Keshon Singleton chipped in five catches for 86 yards and a touchdown as well.
UAB Blazers Betting Preview
Over on the Blazers’ side, they went 2-1 over their first three games with a loss to Navy in between wins over Alabama State and Akron. Next came losses to Tennessee, Army and Florida Atlantic before another win over Memphis. The Blazers would fall to UConn and Rice in their next pair, though. In the 24-17 defeat by Rice, UAB gave up just 232 total yards, 41 pass yards, 18 first downs and 5-of-17 on third-down tries but the team committed 11 penalties for 95 yards. On offense the Blazers totaled 315 yards with 18 first downs and 5.0 yards per play.
Matched up against North Texas last weekend, the Blazers were demolished 31-7 in the first half alone. UAB gave up points in every quarter (including double-digits in the first three) in a 53-24 blowout home loss. QB Jalen Kitna had 281 yards with one TD and two picks on 26-of-45 passing, and Jevon Jackson carried 16 times for 159 yards. Leading receiver Brandon Hawkins came up with 127 yards and a touchdown on his six catches.

UAB vs South Florida Prediction
I’ll stay with South Florida. The Bulls need a good bounce-back game after falling in a tough one to Navy last weekend, and this is a promising spot to get their proverbial mojo back. USF posted 556 yards on the Midshipmen with 8.1 yards per play, 23 first downs and 200 rushing yards. The third-down efficiency (5-of-12) wasn’t great though, and the team coughed up a pair of turnovers. On defense South Florida gave up 338 rushing yards and 7.3 yards per play but did pretty well on third downs (5-of-14). That makes two losses in the last three games for the Bulls, but they’ve been scoring well with 31 or more points in seven straight outings.
As for UAB, there wasn’t much they could do against North Texas, especially with four turnovers (three picks) and 506 yards allowed on defense last weekend. The Blazers have given up 24 or more points in every game this year, so USF shouldn’t have a ton of issues finding the scoreboard this weekend. I like the Bulls to control this one from front to back in a return to form for the team following last weekend’s loss.
