The San Jose State Spartans and the UNLV Rebels meet Saturday in college football action from Allegiant Stadium. San Jose State enters this one after a matchup with San Diego State. The 6-5 Spartans went on to win by 11 points. As for UNLV, they’re coming off a game against Air Force. In that matchup the Rebels improved to 9-2 overall with a four-point win. San Jose State Spartans 

The Spartans went on a .500 run through their first 10 games this year, but they scored pretty well in that time with 33.9 points per game on average. On Saturday versus San Diego State, San Jose State broke a 10-10 tie with a third-quarter TD and held on for the win 24-13. Chevan Cordeiro finished with 174 yards, one score and one pick. Quali Conley put up 155 rush yards and a TD, and Isaac Jernagin caught two balls for 56  yards.

Over on the Rebels’ side, they had a nice run over their first 10 games with eight victories and 43 total touchdowns. UNLV averaged 36.4 points per game with that effort, including 226.1 pass yards per game, 11 TDs and six interceptions. The rush was even better, as the Rebels posted 195.7 yards per game and 31 more scores. 

In their last matchup against Air Force, UNLV was down 27-14 going into the second half but recovered very well from there in an eventual comeback win 31-27. QB Jayden Maiava threw for 339 yards, two touchdowns and two picks while also leading the rush on 36 yards. Ricky White added eight catches for 169 yards and a TD.

I’ll probably just stick with UNLV, but you could argue it either way. The Rebels posted a solid 465 yards of offense (351 passing) versus Air Force in their latest win, but also had just 15 first downs, 3-of-13 on third downs, 10 penalties and two picks. UNLV also gave up a whopping 344 yards rushing but otherwise kept the Falcons in check. That makes 31 or more points in all three games of this current Rebels win streak. 

As for SJSU, they came up with 355 total yards (174 passing) versus San Diego State in a pretty solid win of their own. The Spartans have hit 24 or more points in six straight games, so this one could end up being a high total. I like UNLV on the cover, but it’s a coin flip.
