The UCF Knights and the South Florida Bulls meet Saturday in college football action from Raymond James Stadium. UCF played Navy in their last outing. The Knights would go on to lose by three in a tough outcome. As for South Florida, they’re coming off a game versus Tulsa. In that one the Bulls lost by six points. UCF went 5-1 to start the 2022 season, beating South Carolina State, FAU, Georgia Tech, SMU and Temple. The Knights then lost to East Carolina before wins over Cincinnati, Memphis and Tulane over the next three outings.

In Saturday’s matchup versus Navy, UCF trailed 14-6 by halftime. The Knights scored eight points in the third but ended up with a 17-14 loss. John Rhys Plumlee threw for 107 yards and a pick. Javon Baker led the receivers on 101 yards and a TD.

Over on the South Florida side, they’ve had a rough season. The Bulls lost to BYU, Florida, Louisville, East Carolina, Cincinnati, Tulane, Houston, Temple and SMU over their first 10 games, with only a win versus Howard to show for it.

Matched up against Tulsa last Friday, USF gave up 24 points in the second quarter and trailed 31-20 by halftime. The Bulls couldn’t catch up in a 48-42 loss. QB Byrum Brown posted 240 yards with three scores, and Brian Battie led the rush on 169 yards and a TD.

The Knights are 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven conference games. UCF is 4-1 ATS in their last five road games.

Meanwhile, the Bulls are 10-3 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 7-19 ATS in the last 26 after an ATS win. USF is 0-4 ATS in their last four on grass.

PICK: I’m probably staying with UCF. The Knights are coming off an unfortunate loss to Navy in a weird game. The Midshipmen had 248 yards—all rushing—and just 14 first downs, but did a good job at ball control. UCF meanwhile had two turnovers and went just 3-of-12 on third-down tries.

As for South Florida, they had a good day offensively with 499 yards and 23 first downs. The Bulls gave up 573 yards on the other side and lost a couple of fumbles, though. This matchup is going to be another tough one, and I like an angry UCF team to bounce back with a cover.
