In this article we will formulate a Virginia Tech vs Virginia prediction for this College Football game on Saturday, November 30th at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week 14 matchup.

Virginia Tech Hokies Betting Preview

The Virginia Tech Hokies are 5-6 (3-4) this year after they lost to Duke by a score of 31-28 in their last game. Virginia Tech led 17-14 in the second quarter, but they allowed the next 17 points and came up just short in the fourth quarter. The Hokies out gained Duke by a total of 403-396, won the turnover battle 4-2, and went 6-19 on third down in the game. William Watson III threw for 146 yards and one interception, while Bhayshul Tuten rushed for 84 yards and one score in the game.

Prior to that loss, the Hokies lost to Clemson by a score of 24-14 and Syracuse by a score of 38-31. The VT offense has scored 29 points per game with 187.2 passing yards and 185.7 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 23.3 points against per game this season. Virginia Tech is dealing with injuries to Drones and Schlee at the quarterback spot, so if neither can play, we should see William Watson III once again.

Virginia Cavaliers Betting Preview

The Virginia Cavaliers are 5-6 (3-4) this season after they lost to SMU by a score of 33-7 in their last game. Virginia allowed the first 26 points in the game and never got back into it for the loss. The Cavaliers were out gained by a total of 434-173, won the turnover battle 2-0, and went 3-15 on third down in the game. Anthony Colandrea threw for 108 yards and one touchdown, while Malachi Fields caught four passes for 42 yards and one score.

Prior to that game, the Cavaliers lost to Notre Dame by a score of 35-14, but did beat Pittsburgh by a score of 24-19 before that. The UVA offense has scored 23.7 points per game with 233.6 passing yards and 135.2 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 28 points against per game this season. Anthony Colandrea has completed 61.9% of his passes for 2,125 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while Malachi Fields has caught 53 passes for 788 yards and five scores.

Why Virginia will beat Virginia Tech

  • Virginia Tech has lost four of its last five November games as a home favorite.

  • Virginia has covered the spread in seven of its last eight road games against conference opponents.
  • Virginia Tech has failed to cover the spread in five of its last six home games in November.

Total Points Facts

  • Each of Virginia Tech’s last seven November games as a favorite against non-AP-ranked teams have gone OVER the total points line.
  • Each of Virginia’s last five road games against non-AP-ranked teams have gone OVER the total points line.

  • Virginia Tech ranks 8th among FBS teams for average point differential in fourth quarters this season (+5.4).

Virginia Tech vs Virginia Prediction

These two teams come into this matchup battling for their sixth win of the season, but only one team will be heading to a bowl game after this one. The Hokies have lost three games in a row and their quarterback situation is up in the air, but Watson III did play decently well against Duke. Virginia has lost five of their last six games and their defense has allowed at least 33 points in four of their last five. I know the Cavaliers have struggled recently, but they have also played very difficult teams. I don’t like the uncertainty with the VT quarterback room, so give me the points with Virginia here.
