Washington State trailed 7-0 early in the first quarter, but they led 49-17 at the half and poured it on in the second half for the win. The Cougars outgained Portland State by a total of 637-449 and went 3-8 on third down in the game. John Mateer threw for 352 yards and five touchdowns, while Kyle Williams caught four passes for 141 yards and two scores. 

Washington State looked very good on the offensive side of the football in their first game, but they allowed 30 points and about 450 yards of offense. Both of these teams are coming off of wins in week one, but both defenses really struggled and Texas Tech nearly lost to a FCS team. The Red Raiders allowed over 500 total yards and they are going to really struggle against this Washington State passing attack. On the other side, I do expect Texas Tech to find success in the passing game, but I just don’t trust their defense after seeing how they played in week one.
