The Boise State Broncos and the Washington Huskies meet Saturday in college football action for the Bucked Up LA Bowl from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Here’s a Washington vs Boise State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Washington vs Boise State pick.

Boise State Broncos Betting Preview

Boise State was a pretty consistent team this year; the Broncos lost consecutive games just once all season. The opening eight outings were a 6-2 run with losses to only South Florida and Notre Dame mixed with wins over Eastern Washington, Air Force, App State, New Mexico, UNLV and Nevada. After losses to Fresno State and San Diego State, Boise State finished off the regular season with three more wins over Colorado State, Utah State and UNLV. That would give the Broncos a 9-4 overall record this season.

In the December 5 game versus UNLV, the Broncos jumped out to a 28-14 lead by the break. Boise State eventually posted a 10-7 run in the second half, rolling to a 38-21 win in the end. QB Maddux Madsen finished 17-of-31 for 289 yards and three scores. Leading rusher Dylan Riley had 21 carries for 75 yards and Chase Penry led the receivers on three catches for 96 yards during the winning effort for the Broncos.

Washington Huskies Betting Preview

Over on the Washington side, they had a lone 1-2 run in October/November but otherwise stayed quite consistent themselves. The Huskies were 5-1 in their first six with a loss to Ohio State among wins over Colorado State, UC Davis, Washington State, Maryland and Rutgers. After losses to Michigan and Wisconsin (and a win over Illinois) in the next three, Washington finished off the campaign with wins over Purdue and UCLA ahead of a loss to Oregon. Over 12 games that would give the Huskies an 8-4 overall record this year.

Matched up against Oregon on November 29, the Huskies trailed 13-7 by halftime. Washington ended up surrendering points in every quarter along the way to a 26-14 loss. QB Demond Williams had a 15-of-30 line for 129 yards, two scores and two picks. Top rusher Adam Mohammed had 14 carries for 105 yards and Dezmen Roebuck had two catches for 27 yards in the loss for Washington.

Washington vs Boise State Prediction

I’ll take a stab on Boise State here. We should have a pretty fun matchup on our hands regardless, though. The Broncos handled UNLV quite well last Friday, amassing 460 total yards, 289 pass yards, 6.7 yards per play, 23 first downs, no turnovers and a nice 10-of-16 success rate on third downs. Boise State gave up 409 yards on defense with 22 first downs but also had just 4-of-14 allowed on third-down tries. Since their seven-point dud in a 10-point loss to San Diego State, Boise State has scored 25 or more points in three straight games—with 38 or more in two of those.

As for Washington, they could only muster 283 yards against a good Oregon team in their last game along with 129 pass yards, 18 first downs, 5-of-13 on third downs and two picks. Washington gave up 392 yards on the other side but just 17 first downs and a 6-of-16 success rate on third-down tries. Considering the competition level it was a pretty solid defensive effort overall, even without a takeaway. That makes 14 or fewer points in three of the last six games for Washington, but in the other three they’ve got 42 or more points. Long story short, this game could shake out in a lot of different ways. I like Boise State slightly better cover-wise, but it’s a coin flip. It’ll be a great one to watch.
