Week 2: Utah State vs Weber State 9/10/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Utah State Aggies and Weber State Wildcats clash Saturday in week 2 college football action from Maverik Stadium.

The Weber State Wildcats will look to build on their season-opening 41-5 win over subdivision Western Oregon last time out. Bronson Barron threw for 152 yards on 16 of 28 passing while Josh Davis had 53 rushing yards and a score to lead Weber State on the ground. Damon Bankston also had 42 rushing yards and a touchdown while Colter May and Steven Shoats-Thomas each had 30+ rushing yards with the latter logging a touchdown as well. Jacob Sharp led the Wildcats with 43 receiving yards as well in the winning effort. Maxwell Anderson added a pair of interceptions and Garrett Beck added an INT as well for the Wildcats in the win.

The Utah State Aggies sill look go bounce back after falling to 1-1 with a 55-0 loss to Alabama in their last game. Logan Bonner has thrown for 320 yards and 3 touchdowns on 60.5% passing while Calvin Tyler Jr. has a team-high 174 rushing yards and Robert Briggs has 113 rushing yards and a touchdown as well. Brian Cobbs leads the Aggies with 9 receptions for 111 yards while Justin McGriff and Kyle Van Leeuwen each have 50+ receiving yards. On defense, MJ Tafisi has a team-high 13 total tackles while Ajani Carter has a team-high 10 solo tackles and Gurvan Hall has a team-high 6 sacks. Ike Larsen also has a pair of interceptions for Utah State so far this season.

Weber State is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win. Utah State is 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games in September and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 non-conference games.

I get the case to be made across the board here, but rather than try to mess with a side here, I’m going to look at the over. No matter how this game finishes whether it’s tight, a Weber State outright upset or a Utah State rout, I see it being high-scoring, like both teams getting in the 30s at the very least high-scoring. Utah State’s fully capable of letting a lesser team hang around, just ask UConn, but Weber State’s one of those teams that can hang and wouldn’t shock anyone if they pulled off an upset here.
