Arkansas State kicked off their season with a blowout win over Grambling State. The Red Wolves were up 30-0 by halftime and cruised to a 58-3 win. QB James Blackman put up 210 yards and two scores. Johnnie Lang had 124 rush yards with a TD on 13 carries.

In game two versus Ohio State, the Red Wolves had a tough matchup. Arkansas State gave up 21 points in the third quarter alone on the way to a 45-12 blowout loss. Blackman managed 188 yards on 20-of-34 passing, and Champ Flemings caught 10 balls for 105 yards.

Over on the Memphis side, they were outscored by Mississippi State 28-3 in the first half of their opener and eventually lost 49-23. QB Seth Henigan put up 165 yards and a score while Jevyon Ducker managed 63 rush yards and a TD off five carries.

Matched up versus Navy over the weekend, the Tigers scored in every quarter on the way to a 37-13 victory. Henigan managed 415 yards with two scores, and Asa Martin led the rush with 56 yards and a TD. Gabriel Rogers posted 95 yards on five catches as well.

PICK: I’m going to try Arkansas State in this one. Sure, the Red Wolves are coming off a tough matchup and they were overwhelmed in most facets. That said, there are some things to build on after the blowout loss to Ohio State. Arkansas State managed 276 total yards, zero turnovers and 37:44 in time of possession, none of which is too bad when you consider how outmatched they were.

As for Memphis, they posted a solid outing themselves with 506 total yards and 7.6 yards per play versus Navy. The defense was great as well, with three turnovers and only 99 pass yards allowed. That said, I think the Red Wolves can get in there for a cover if they’re playing well.
