Week 5: Eastern Michigan vs UMass 10/1/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Eastern Michigan Eagles and UMass Minutemen do battle Saturday in week 5 college football action from Rynearson Stadium.

The UMass Minutemen will try to bounce back after a 28-0 loss at the hands of Temple last time out, to fall to 1-3 on the year. Cameron Sullivan-Brown has 10 grabs for 109 yards to lead UMass’ receiving group this season. On defense, Jalen Mackie has a team-high 27 total tackles including 14 solo tackles and Jordan Mahoney has a pair of interceptions.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles will be out to bounce back themselves after falling to 2-2 with a 50-31 loss to Buffalo in their last game. Taylor Powell’s thrown for 681 yards, 4 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 66% passing while Samson Evans leads the Eagles in rushing with 418 yards and 3 TDs this season. Tanner Knue leads EMU’s receiving corps with 18 catches for 291 yards and 4 touchdowns while three ofhter EMU receivers have 100+ receiving yards on the year. On defense, Chase Kline has a team-high 35 total tackles to lead the Eagles’ defense this season.

UMass is 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games against the MAC and 6-20 ATS in their last 26 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 non-conference games.

I get that this is a big number to lay with Eastern Michigan, but I’m honestly not sure how anyone can look any other way here. UMass has been a disaster on the road for some time now and even going to take on Eastern Michigan, it’s not likely that those issues fix themselves here. If Temple can run all over you and paste you by four scores, I’m sure that the Eagles can as well. I’ll lay the big number with the Eagles in this spot.
