The New Mexico State Aggies and San Jose State Spartans do battle Saturday in a week 8 college football game from Aggie Memorial Stadium.

The San Jose State Spartans will look to rebound from a 17-10 loss to Fresno State that sent the Spartans to 4-2 on the year. Chevan Cordeiro has thrown for 1,602 yards, 7 touchdowns and an interception on 56.8% passing along with 178 rushing yards with 6 touchdowns while Kairee Robinson has a team-high 343 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. Elijah Cooks has a team-high 30 catches for 548 yards and 3 touchdowns while Justin Lockhart has 298 receiving yards and Charles Ross has 204 receiving yards as well on the year. On defense, Kyle Harmon has a team-high 50 total tackles while San Jose State has 12 sacks and 7 interceptions as a team this season.

The New Mexico State Aggies will try to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 4 games following a 21-9 win over rival New Mexico to improve to 2-5 on the year. Gavin Frakes has thrown for 517 yards, 4 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 48.1% passing while Diego Pavia’s thrown for 322 yards and 4 picks on 40.5% passing while also rushing for 102 yards and a pair of scores. Star Thomas has a team-high 326 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns while Jamoni Jones has 217 rushing yards and a pair of scores as well. Justice Powers leads NMSU’s receiving group with 204 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Chris Ojoh has 61 total tackles with 42 solo tackles and 4 sacks. Lazarus Williams also has 3 sacks for the Aggie defense this season.

San Jose State is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 6-13 ATS in their last 19 non-conference games while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. New Mexico State is 21-44-1 ATS in their last 66 games against a team with a winning record and 2-12 ATS in their last 14 home games against a team with a winning road record while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 home games.

I get the case to be made for a home underdog in a lot of spots, but the Aggies don’t have the offense to keep up with what San Jose State’s bringing to the table. The Spartans took one on the chin against Fresno State in the race to the Mountain West title game, and I think San Jose State will use this as a chance to take out some frustration. I’ll side with San Jose State in a beatdown here.
