The Cincinnati Bearcats and the West Virginia Mountaineers meet Saturday in college football action from Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown. Here’s a West Virginia vs Cincinnati prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best West Virginia vs Cincinnati pick.
Cincinnati Bearcats Betting Preview
The Bearcats opened up the year on a good run. The first game was a 34-15 win over Boston College, then came a 62-10 blowout victory versus Western Carolina. Cincinnati followed that up with two more wins over Miami-OH and Kansas State for a 4-0 start to the season. Their first loss came in game five versus Arizona, though.
In the Arizona game back on October 3, the Bearcats couldn’t find the scoreboard in the first half. They were still within striking distance at 10-0 in the locker room, but got shut out completely until late in the fourth. In the end the Bearcats had a 34-7 defeat on the road. QB JC French had 153 passing yards and also led the rush with nine carries for 29 yards and a TD.
West Virginia Mountaineers Betting Preview
Over on the West Virginia side, they also got off to a nice start this year. The Mountaineers kicked things off with a one-score win over Coastal Carolina, then blew out Tennessee-Martin. West Virginia then upset Virginia 38-27 in game three. The next two games were both losses however, as WVU dropped to Oklahoma State and Iowa State.
Last weekend versus Arizona, the Mountaineers had the score tied in the second quarter at 17-17 and only trailed by a touchdown early in the fourth. West Virginia was kept off the scoreboard the rest of the way however and lost 52-31 in the end. QB Michael Hawkins was 11-of-28 for 219 yards and Cam Cook had 34 carries for 141 yards and two scores.

West Virginia vs Cincinnati Prediction
I’ll stick with Cincinnati. The Bearcats do need a good bounce-back effort here, though. In the Arizona game Cincinnati could only find 12 first downs, 227 yards and 7-of-16 on third-down tries. Defensively the Bearcats gave up 30 first downs, 9-of-14 on third downs, 522 total yards and 238 rush yards. It was the first time this year that Cincinnati had failed to score at least 31 points.
As for WVU, they had trouble with an injured Arizona team and couldn’t keep the pace in the end despite 522 yards and 30 first downs on offense. The Mountaineers gave up 20 first downs and 482 yards on the other side, with 341 of those yards coming through the air. That makes three straight losses for WVU, with 41 or more points surrendered in each of those.
