IPL Season 13 resumes tomorrow, September 22nd 2021, at 10:00am EST with a clash between bottom of the table Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals who are currently second.

High-flying Delhi Capitals look to continue their astounding season after the lengthy break due to Covid-19. The star-studded Delhi team, captained by the inspirational Rishabh Pant, have been stitching together impressive wins in the absence of Shreyas Iyer who was the previous captain before he experienced his shoulder injury. Shreyas Iyer’s return strengthens the core of the top order substantially with PrithviShaw and Shikhar Dhwan providing the impetus from the start of the innings. Marcus Stonis has mentioned that he would like to be the best finisher in the world in the next three years and he may not be far off from that statement as he has been vital to the Capitals success of late. The bowling department must not go unnoticed as they have compliment and also led the charge on some occasions with the likes of the South African pace duo; Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje assisted admirably by the spin duo; Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin. The combination of application and power from the batting side of the wicket to the brilliant lines and lengths provided by the bowling unit have ensured that the Delhi Capitals stay in the top 2, can they maintain their run of form all the way to the knockout stage is the question.

Sunrisers Hyderabad has been a shell of their previous selves, currently at the bottom of the table, this powerhouse of a team are confident that they can turn things around and make the final four but they will face many great teams on the path to the goals they wish to attain. David Warner is likely to play in tomorrow’s game after his form during the first half of the season was non-existent; Kane Williamson replaced him as captain. This side as currently constructed has been let themselves down with the bat, now with Johnny Bairstow out of the fold, a daunting task to put runs on the board looms in the air. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been the ever-present bowling threat for the Sunrisers accompanied by Rashid Khan and Jason Holder who also provides strength in the batting department. They will be eager to restrict the Delhi Capitals batsmen with assertive bowling strategies, timely wickets and strings of dot balls on the back end of the innings without much of a boundary bleed. Captain Kane Williamson believes his side has the capabilities to compile wins in a cluster to advance to the knockout stage but can they apply themselves well enough to do so?

Two teams that are on either side of the IPL spectrum so far in the tournament, Sunrisers Hyderabad is desperate to get their campaign truly off and running while Delhi Capitals are hungry for more success as they aim to top the table tomorrow. We can expect a fight to the finish from Surisers but alas they will fall to the all-round prowess of the Capitals batting and their acute bowling.
