Major League Baseball presents a matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Colorado Rockies. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a Draftkings perspective.

Before we dive into the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Colorado Rockies let’s review the rules for the Draftkings single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s St. Louis Cardinals vs. Colorado Rockies matchup.

Captain-Erick Fedde, Starting Pitcher, St. Louis Cardinals $11,000

On Wednesday evening, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three game National League series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Colorado Rockies.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s MLB game? The St. Louis Cardinals arrive at the second game of this National League series with the Colorado Rockies playing quality baseball. Let me be more specific. The Cardinals have won six of the team’s last eight games played in the 2024 MLB regular season, including a dominating 10-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates last week.

In direct contrast to the St. Louis Cardinals, the Colorado Rockies have not been playing good baseball recently. The Rockies have lost four of the team’s last five games played this season, including a 6-4 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers five days ago.

Now that we have identified how both of these National League teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to today’s contest. St. Louis starting pitcher Erick Fedde has certainly pitched at a high level to this point in the 2024 MLB regular season. Having stated that, how has Fedde pitched from a statistical standpoint? Let’s review Erick Fedde’s game data to answer that question.

In the 30 games that Erick Fedde has pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2024 MLB regular season, Fedde has posted a robust 3.38 ERA (Earned Run Average), 1.17 WHIP (walks, hits, inning pitched) and added 144 strikeouts while allowing 51 walks.

More recently, in the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals six days ago, Erick Fedde pitched rather well. More specifically, Fedde pitched six quality innings striking out four St. Louis batters while scattering four hits and allowing one walk in the Cardinals loss to the Pirates.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the Pirates 3-2 win over the Cardinals just noted, Fedde compiled 14.5 Draftkings points.

In my opinion, Erik Fedde is the most likely player to post the most fantasy points in this evening’s MLB regular season game. For that specific reason, I am rolling with St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Erick Fedde at the captain position for this Draftkings MLB Showdown contest.

Flex plays I like (Draftkings price noted): Austin Gomber, Starting Pitcher (Colorado Rockies) $10,400: Charlie Blackmon, Outfielder (Colorado Rockies) $7,800: Paul Goldschmidt, First Baseman (St. Louis Cardinals) $9,000: Alec Burleson, Outfielder (St. Louis Cardinals) $6,800: Ezequiel Tovar, Shortstop (Colorado Rockies) $9,600.
