Draftkings picks and predictions for tonight's Celtics vs. Cavaliers matchup.

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
May 11, 2024 9:30 pm EDT

The NBA presents a playoff matchup between the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Let’s take a look at this game from a Draftkings perspective.

Before we dive into the Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game let’s review the rules for Draftkings single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers matchup.

Draftkings Picks

Captain-Donovan Mitchell $11,000

Talented Cleveland guard Donovan Mitchell has been the leader in the backcourt that the Cleveland Cavaliers have needed to win games in the 2024 Eastern Conference playoffs.

Let’s take a look at Donovan Mitchell’s recent game data to see how Mitchell has been playing from a statistical perspective in the postseason.

In the Cleveland Cavaliers nine playoff games played in the 2024 Eastern Conference playoffs, Donovan Mitchell has averaged a robust 29.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1 steal a game.

In the Cleveland Cavaliers 113-94 loss to the Boston Celtics two days ago, Donovan Mitchell accumulated 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists in the Cavaliers loss to the Boston Celtics.

Considering the increased importance of tonight’s Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, I expect Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell to play one of his best games of the 2024 playoffs.

Flex Plays

Jayson Tatum $11,400

Since the beginning of April, the Boston Celtics have played 12 games. In those 12 games just noted (including playoff games), Jayson Tatum has averaged an impressive 43.9 Draftkings points a game. It has to be said, those are some outstanding offensive numbers from the Boston Celtics forward.

Darius Garland $7,400

In addition to Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland has been helped the Cavaliers offense reach new heights this season. Having stated that, how has Garland performed from an offensive efficiency standpoint in the postseason?

In the Cleveland Cavaliers nine playoff games played in the 2024 Eastern Conference Semifinals, Darius Garland is averaging 29.9 Draftkings points a game.

Evan Mobley $9,400

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Evan Mobley has an opportunity to be a key contributor in the paint for this Cavaliers team in this evening’s matchup with the Boston Celtics. Why? Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis is out for tonight’s game due to injury. The unfortunate injury to Porzingis should allow Cleveland forward Evan Mobley to excel in the paint.

Keep in mind that Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen is listed as questionable for tonight’s game. I personally don’t think Allen plays tonight. If Allen were to play, that would alter my decision to back Evan Mobley. However, I recommend that all readers pay close attention to the official injury reports released by both teams prior to setting your lineup for this slate later today.

Additional flex plays I like (Draftkings price noted): Jaylen Brown $9,800: Derrick White $8,000: Max Strus $6,200: Isaac Okoro $4,600.
