Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets

The Minnesota Timberwolves travel to Colorado for a matchup with the Denver Nuggets. Let’s take a look at this NBA game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into my Draftkings picks for the Timberwolves vs. Nuggets game, let’s review an important note regarding the rules and scoring for the single game showdown contests.

For those readers who are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single game showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.

If you need to review the specific rules for the single game showdown contests feel free to check out the Draftkings website.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets matchup.

Draftkings Player Picks

Captain-Nikola Jokic $12,400

Unless you have been living under a rock the last five years, you are aware that Denver center Nikola Jokic is one of the best players in the NBA. Having stated that, it’s safe to say that Jokic is the best player on the Denver Nuggets roster by a very large margin.

Now that we have established that Jokic is currently one of the best players in the association how good has Nikola Jokic played this season from a statistical standpoint? In 73 games played, Jokic has averaged 26.1 points, 12.2 rebounds, 9 assists, and 1.3 steals a game.

Additionally, the Minnesota Timberwolves have not exactly been a great defensive team versus the center position recently. In the last 7 games played in the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves are ranked a rather low 21st in total Draftkings points allowed a game (56.81) to the center position.

For the reasons just indicated above, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic will be my captain for this one game DFS slate.

Flex Plays

Reggie Jackson $6,000

Earlier this month, Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray injured his ankle in a game with the New York Knicks. The injury has caused Murray to miss the Nuggets last three games. Denver has listed Murray as questionable for tonight’s game.

If Jamal Murray is declared out for this evening’s game, who will start at point guard for the Denver Nuggets? Nuggets point guard Reggie Jackson will likely be the Denver player that gets the start if Murray is indeed ruled out for this game.

It should be noted that Reggie Jackson has started the Nuggets first three games played without Murray in the starting lineup, In the three games just mentioned, Denver guard Reggie Jackson has averaged 16.3 points, 5 assists, and 1.3 steals a game.

I certainly like the matchup Reggie Jackson will be facing this evening. Why? The Minnesota Timberwolves defense has had issues containing opposing point guards lately. In the last 7 games played in the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves are ranked 23rd in total Draftkings points allowed a game (52.1) to the point guard position.

Michael Porter $7,600

I noted earlier in this article that Denver point guard Jamal Murray is in serious danger of missing tonight’s game with Minnesota.

Murray’s likely absence this evening will open the door for other Nuggets players to contribute offensively. I think Denver forward Michael Porter will be one of the Nuggets players to see more shot attempts, etc.

Through 73 games played in 2024, Porter has averaged an impressive 31.7 Draftkings points a game.

Flex plays I like: Anthony Edwards $10,200: Aaron Gordon $7,000: Mike Conley $6,200: Monte Morris $2,000.
