May 25, 2025 7:10 pm EDT
Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with a National League matchup featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.
Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules
You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.
*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.
Here are my Draftkings picks for tonight’s Pittsburgh Pirates vs. New York Mets matchup.
Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks
Captain-Kodai Senga, Starting Pitcher, New York Mets $11,600
This Sunday night, Major League Baseball presents the final game of a three-game National League series featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets.
How are these two teams playing entering this evening’s National League game? The New York Mets arrive at the third game of this three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers playing below average baseball. The Mets have lost six of the team’s last nine games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 2-0 shutout loss to the Boston Red Sox five days ago.
In direct contrast to the New York Mets, the Los Angeles Dodgers are playing good baseball entering tonight’s National League game. More specifically, the Dodgers have won three of the team’s last four games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 4-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this week.
Now that we have determined how both teams are currently playing let’s turn our attention to this evening’s contest. Talented starting pitcher Kodai Senga has been a solid performer for the New York Mets this season. With that said, how has Senga pitched from a statistical standpoint? Let’s examine Senga’s game data to answer that question.
Through seven starts made for the New York Mets this season, starting pitcher Kodai Senga has compiled a 4-3 (win-loss record) and a robust 1.43 ERA (Earned Run Average) which ranks second in MLB. It should also be noted that Senga has tallied a 1.14 (walks, hits, innings pitched) amassed 47 strikeouts while allowing 22 walks in 50.1 innings pitched in 2025.
More recently, in the Los Angeles Dodgers dominant 7-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this month, New York starting pitcher Kodai Senga certainly pitched at a high level. Let me be more specific. Senga pitched six quality innings striking out four Arizona batters while scattering two hits and allowing five walks in the Dodgers win over the Diamondbacks.
In my view, Kodai Senga is the most likely player to post the highest number of Draftkings points in tonight’s National League game. Having stated that, I am backing New York Mets starting pitcher Kodai Senga at the captain position for this one game MLB Draftkings Showdown contest.
Flex plays I like in tonight’s MLB regular game (Draftkings price noted): Landon Knack, Starting Pitcher (Los Angeles Dodgers) $11,000: Francisco Lindor, Shortstop (New York Mets) $8,800: Shohei Ohtani, First Baseman (Los Angeles Dodgers) $10,000.
