Draftkings Best WNBA Showdown Picks: Fever vs. Liberty 6/2/24

Draftkings picks and predictions for this evening's Fever vs. Liberty matchup.

Indiana Fever vs. New York Liberty
June 2, 2024 9:00 pm EDT

The WNBA presents a matchup between the Indiana Fever and the New York Liberty. Let’s take a look at this game from a Draftkings perspective.

Before we dive into the Indiana Fever vs. New York Liberty game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate

Here are my Draftkings picks for tonight’s Indiana Pacers vs. New York Liberty matchup.

Draftkings Picks

Captain-Breanna Stewart $10,400

New York forward Breanna Stewart has certainly established herself as the leader of this New York Liberty team in 2024. Having stated that, how has Stewart been playing from a statistical standpoint? Let’s take a look at Stewart’s recent game data to answer that question.

In eight games played for the New York Liberty in the 2024 WNBA regular season, New York Liberty forward Beanna Stewart has averaged a whopping 18.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks a game.

More recently, in the New York Liberty’s 90-79 win over the Washington Mystics two days ago, New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart played exceptionally well. Stewart accumulated 18 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals in the New York Liberty’s defeat of the Washington Mystics.

Additionally, I like Breanna Stewart’s matchup this evening. Why? New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart draws an Indiana Fever defense that has had significant issues defending opposing players in the paint all season. Through eight games played in the 2024 WNBA regular season, the Indiana Fever are currently ranked an abysmal tenth in total points allowed in the paint a game (37.6) and ninth in defensive rebound percentage (67.6%). Keep in mind that the WNBA has 12 teams in the entire league. Clearly, being ranked tenth in any team defensive category is never a good thing.

It should be mentioned that talented Indiana Fever forward Temi Fagbenie has been ruled out for tonight’s game. The loss of Fagbenie should allow New York Liberty Breanna Stewart more freedom to score in the paint.

Selecting the correct captain for your DFS single game showdown lineup is vital if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) Draftkings contest. Keep that in mind as you determine which player to select as your captain for this one game Draftkings contest. For me, the clear choice at captain is New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart.

Flex Plays

Caitlin Clark $10,000

Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark has wasted little time showing basketball fans that she belongs in the WNBA. In ten games played for the Indiana Fever this season, Caitlin Clark is averaging 16.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 1 block a game.

I fully expect Clark to continue her outstanding play later today.

Additional players I like to play well this evening (Draftkings price noted): Sabrina Ionescu $9,200: NaLyssa Smith $8,600: Jonquel Jones $9,000: Kelsey Mitchell $7,400.
