2025 Irish Open
September 4, 2025 2:30 am EDT
This week, the DP World Tour presents golf fans with the 2025 Irish Open. Let’s take a look at this week’s event from a Draftkings perspective.
Before I dive into my Draftkings player selections for this tournament let’s review the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to a golfer’s success at this week’s 2025 Irish Open.
Where will the 2025 Irish Open be played?
The 2025 Irish Open will be played at the K Club (Palmer Course) in Kildare, Ireland. The golf course is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,441 yards.
Rasmus Hojgaard won the 2024 Irish Open with a cumulative four round score of nine under par.
Will the Irish Open have a traditional cut after two rounds?
The 2025 Irish Open will have a field of 156 competitors to start the tournament on Thursday. This event will have a cut after the completion of the first two rounds. The top 65 golfers and ties will make the cut.
Irish Open Key Player Statistics
- Strokes Gained: Off the Tee
- Strokes Gained: Approach
- GIR (greens in regulation)
- Strokes Gained: Tee to Green
- Bogey Avoidance
- Birdie or Better Percentage
I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
2025 Irish Open Draftkings Picks
Rory McIlroy $12,000
Since the beginning of January, Rory McIlroy has played 15 tournaments (PGA and DP World Tours combined). In those 15 events just mentioned, McIlroy compiled ten top 19 finishes, including three wins (2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: 2025 Players Championship: 2025 Masters Tournament).
Rory McIlroy is currently ranked third in strokes gained off the tee (0.671), eighth in strokes gained putting (0.597), second in driving distance (323.1), 14th in scrambling (63.80%), eighth in birdie or better percentage (35.65%), third in total strokes gained (1.543) and seventh in par five scoring average (4.48) on the PGA Tour.
McIlroy certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event history. Since 2015, Rory McIlroy has played the Irish Open seven times. In those seven tournaments just noted, McIlroy amassed four top 28 finishes, including a win at the 2016 Irish Open.
What did we learn from the data just presented? Clearly, Rory McIlroy is playing at a high level entering this week’s DP World Tour event. With that said, I fully expect that trend to continue at the K Club later this week.
Jordan Smith $9,600
Last month, Jordan Smith fired a final round 67 at the 2025 BMW International Open en route to an eventual second place result. Smith also finished 12th at the 2024 Omega European Masters.
It is also noteworthy that Jordan Smith has posted a quality result at this week’s DP World Tour event in the past. More specifically, Smith finished seventh at the 2024 Irish Open.
Oliver Lindell $7,700
Oliver Lindell arrives at this week’s tournament on the heels of three consecutive top 17 finishes on the DP World Tour, including an eighth-place result at the 2025 Danish Golf Championship three weeks ago.
Mikael Lindberg $7,400
Mikael Lindberg has amassed two top 13 finishes in his last three events played on the DP World Tour, including a 13th place result at last week’s 2025 Omega European Masters.
Additional golfers I like to perform well at this week’s 2025 Irish Open (Draftkings price noted): Marco Penge $11,000: Shane Lowry $9,800: Grant Forrest $7,600: John Parry $8.100.
